Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LTUSNRET PETS AND SMALL CHILDREN ALSO MR. EGGMAN ARE SAFE ONCE AGAIN
As you might garner from the summary title, the main reason you would want a slow closing toilet seat lid, is if you have small children or pets, you will never have to worry about their heads/neck getting hurt by a falling seat.
Instillation was easy. Does just as it states, slow closing.
OK, I know your wondering about Mr. Egg-man, when i was little I took raw eggs and put them on the toilet seat, then I would take the lid and slam it down to make egg art in the toilet bowl. Needless to say, my mother did not appreciate art, and my seat got slammed a few times as well..

Built of plastic, this slow close seat is a "snap" to install. First, install the plastic bolts to the toilet. Be sure they are tight! Then, twist the caps on the toilet seat hinges counter clockwise, which unlocks the securing mechanism. Snap the seat hinges onto the bolts, and twist the caps clockwise, locking the hinges to the bolts. Very nice! The seat is comfortable enough, and the slow close mechanism works well. If you have an issue with the seat sliding back and forth, check that the hinges haven't come loose.

This slow-close toilet seat is very nice and was easy to install - but you have to remember to turn the locking mechanism before you attach it to the toilet. I've included a picture showing the hinges unlocked. You just turn them back after seating and lock them in place. The seat seems very sturdy and the slow-close feature works as described. This is nice to have in a house with lots of men!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by sueray flimsy seat cover
I purchased this seat because it was recommended for the Champion 4 1-piece Elongated Right Height Toilet. The seat itself is fine, but the cover is made of flimsy plastic that buckles and slides about if you sit on it. I am not a small person, but also not grossly overweight, but one cannot sit comfortably or safely on this toilet seat. Most of the time this isn't an issue, but I've recently sprained an ankle and needed to stand as little as possible, thus discovering this issue. So if you think you might EVER want to sit on the closed toilet, I'd suggest looking for something more sturdy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SueB The seat is very comfortable. No "clank", it closes softly.
I'm not sure how, but the seat and lid each close quietly, as if on a cushion of air... even if you push the seat down. Great when the kids are around! It also is very comfortable to sit on. At first, out of the box I thought the plastic was flimsy, but once installed it feels very solid and secure. It is plain, nothing fancy, but well-worth the money for the 'quiet' feature.

We've only had this installed for a couple of days, but really love it. No more slamming seats! Closes slow and soft.

This is a nice, easy-to-clean product. The slow-close lids are really nice...we have often been waked up when someone got up in the middle of the night, but no longer. Since we just installed (simple!) I have no idea if the slow closing feature will eventually wear out. It's not evident what the mechanism is (which is actually nice, too).
Only downside...my wife and I (we are 130 and 185 pounds) both found the seat a bit uncomfortable. Can't say why, but just not shaped to provide the same comfort as typical toilet seats. We have two other elongated seats that are older yet more comfortable.
