is the toilet seat curved or flat?

my friend has one that the top goes down slowly, and the seat is slightly curved , i'm hoping that this is the seat that she has. I know she bought it at Home depot.

This seat slopes into the center. Obviously the outside edge is curved as well and the seat is somewhat narrower at the back than in front (but the lid does not narrow and covers the seat and bowl completely). Hope that helps.

Toliet Seat

I have a Glacier Bay toliet model # N2316. Would like to know if they offer a "slow close", elongated closed toliet seat? If not, could I use another brand such as American Standard? Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
I bought a Kohler toilet and installed a American Standard slow close seat and It is working just fine.

I ordered this seat to replace an old one (also an American Standard product) in the guest bathroom that was deteriorating from many years of usage. The toilet itself is an American Standard product with an elongated bowl that was purchased and installed in March 1999. I was disappointed that this seat doesn't fit the toilet very well, and in fact, looks out of place on the toilet. In the attached photo, it can be seen that a substantial part of the toilet bowl rim that was concealed by the original seat when lowered (but with the cover opened) is now exposed. While I don't consider the appearance of a toilet to be as important as the appearance of a sofa or dining room table, the appearance should not give one an impression of a toilet assembled from mismatched parts. Also, this seat has a smaller opening than the one it replaced, which makes it less comfortable on which to sit. Due to the reduced opening size, the risk of someone urinating on the front of it while seated is increased. The slow-close feature, while interesting and somewhat amusing, was not a selling point to me and merely added to the cost. I recommend anyone who is considering this seat to look at a different product.

The instruction leaflet does not give the correct way to put the plastic screw and nut fixtures in place. I eventually went to Home Depot locally, returned the items I had purchased online and got someone to figure out for me how to install the newly designed plastic fixtures. They have to be put in before trying to get the seat onto the toilet, from below and then click into place before trying to put them through the holes on the toilet and attach the nut from underneath the toilet. If you try to put the screws in from the top, it stands proud of the seat installation covers and you cannot open the seat properly. All easily avoided with complete and good instructions written and diagrams that explain this. Very frustrating

Unfortunately, it was not as elongated as the old one. Tried to uninstall so that I could put the old one back on. I tried pushing on the knob-I couldn't. Need to put the old one n because it is big enough for bigger behinds I would reinstall this one on my private toilet. Fits me nicely and I am always slamming the cover. How can I get the cover off

Rated 3 out of 5 by from American Standard slow close toilet lid Already showing signs of failure of the slow-close feature after a few weeks. Previous two also completely failed after 15 months becoming Fast-Close seats. Worked with American Standard directly to replace the previous seats that failed. They are great as long as they work. American Standard states they should work for 50,000 slow-closures. Would be great if they worked that long.

Once I got the toilet, I installed it without any problems. It's a little "thinner" than I'm used to, but it works well. The only issue is that it doesn't fit the bowl quite right. It's slightly off center. It's most likely the way the holes in the toilet bowl are aligned and not the fault of the seat.

This toilet seat was a replacement for an American Standard Elongated seat which had broken. Unfortunately, the design has been changed and the seat is very uncomfortable and constricting. It is very narrow at the back and is definitely not a one-size-fits-all. I am very disappointed and am replacing it with a Bemis Brand.

Right and left sides of inner lid don't match. One side filled in where the mold have a connector mark, the other side left as a divot/not filled in or smoothed out. To have both sides match/be the same, either way would look better than the mismatch.

It was installed on an American Standard toilet to replace a broken seat. Color was a match but the seat design is smaller than the original seat.
