Customer Questions & Answers

Does this faucet come with a quick connect drain?

Asked by: 1lusitano
If you are talking about something like a quick connect hose fitting the answer is "No". If you are talking about the new American Standard cable and sheathing twist on connection from the actuator to the tailpiece the answer is still "No". I am not sure what you are calling a quick connect drain. The tailpiece and inside eschucteon piece screw together from two sides of the sink outlet. There are less pieces to the tailpiece than with some older faucets. Suggest you define "quick connect". While am not a plumber, I've been around residential and commercial construction for some time and never heard that term applied to a sink drain. American Standard does have something called "Speed Connect", which I described earlier. This faucet doesn't have that feature.

Does this require a putty sealant on the base of the unit?

Putty is usually applied to the bottom of the faucet between the sink

I used a line of silicon along the bottom edge of the plastic piece and set it. Works great!

do you leave the plastic bottom on for install?

I've left the plastic bottom on the faucet and the metal moves within the plastic, surely this can't be right.
Asked by: sarah
I did, and I used some silicon sealant around the bottom edge of that plastic to help it seal to the sink.

Why is there no gasket for this faucet?

Why is there no gasket for this faucet?
Asked by: FU
Mine did include a gasket to fit between the counter top and faucet, if that is what you are asking.

Picked it because the brushed nickel is the most unique shiny finish i've ever seen. This must be a water saving faucet, as there is a LOT of air in the line when faucet is running. BUT although I love the finish, wow, does it leave water spots.. SO wish the water would repel and just run right off.. but every spot of water leaves a mark unless you wipe it off everytime you use it. It will force me to keep it clean, but very pretty.. it will be very hard to find other brushed nickel accessories to match it perfectly. The finish is between a polished chrome and brushed nickel..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most beautiful Brushed Nickel finish ever seen! Bought 2 of these for our bathroom remodel, this model just shined compared to the other brushed nickel.its like a cross between polished chrome and brushed nickel, love them. The hard thing to figure out is where the rod that controls the drain, it's not clear in the instructions if the button is supposed to lay flush on back of drain, which looks best, but is impossible to do so and attach underneath...wish I could find out where it's actually supposed to lay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade to our guest bathroom! The American Standard Chatfield faucet for 4" sinks or counters is a great looking faucet and a nice upgrade to our bathroom. The parts included are the pop-up drain, all the mounting hardware and the installation guide. Overall, it wasn't difficult to install. The hardest part of installation was removing the old faucet and of course assuming plumber position under the vanity. While some of the underparts are hard plastic, the brushed nickel finish is tarnish, scratch and corrosion resistant. The faucet is supposed to save 40% more water than a standard 2.2 gpm (gallons per minute) faucet and the ceramic disc valves should be "drip free for life" - that's all fantastic! Two things I don't care for about this faucet kit is that the pop-up/plunger is plastic and the brushed nickel top of the plunger says "American Standard." I prefer not to look at advertising while I'm shaving or brushing my teeth. Other than that it's a very nice upgrade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish Well made little noisy Two reasons I did not give this faucet 5 stars across the board. The front where the name is stamped. It is plastic. I had another brand with plastic and the finish came off after a few years. While in use the water coming out is a little noisy. I have a older American Standard faucet, in another bathroom and it is really quiet when in use. The on/off valves move freely and smooth. The finish and styling is nice. Install was easy and the install instructions were very easy to follow. Nice height making it easier to access when in use. Side note... I recommend having two new water supply lines handy just in case. My water supply lines were a little old and would not seal properly. I recommend the universal Click Seal type.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality faucet from American Standard! This faucet is exactly what I was hoping for! Nice heavy, well-made quality with copper pipes and it has a two-toned type of finish. (see pics). The handles are a curved shape and add a high end look. You can see the shape in the mirror in one of the pictures I've attached. We had to buy a new PVC pipe under the sink because the former one was too short after we put in a new vanity top so that was the only thing that delayed our installation. Make sure you know that this faucet is a 4" on center size so if you're buying a new top you know the faucet cut-out requirements. We added inexpensive cabinet door knobs and pulls, along with oil-rubbed lighting and a towel ring to complete the new look in our 1/2 bath. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Classic design This American Standard Faucet is simplicity at its best. I am going back to the classic design of a two handle faucet. Better control of the water temp vs. a single handle faucet. I would have to continually tap the single handle to get the temp I desired for shaving. Now it’s SIMPLE, turn on the hot water and adjust the temp with the cold handle getting the desired temp just right. Design is appealing to the eyes and instillation really only requires an adjustable wrench to tighten the pop up rod nut. Everything else is basically hand tightened. Check the video below for complete installation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started to leak Had it about a month, little less, when I noticed water coming out from under it. NEVER a good sign. Disconnected it and there was an internal leak way up by the faucet head. Unfixable by myself with limited plumbing knowledge. Bright side- brought it back and returned it with no problem. Got another one just like it, waiting to see if this one leaks as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This looks nice! I purchased this to replace the plastic faucet in my RV. It really has great "Curb Appeal". Everything is there but a little plumbers putty to install. The quality shows and they claim a limited lifetime warranty. Since we haven't had extended use of this item I can only attest that it was easy to install and expect to have years of great service from it.
