Customer Questions & Answers

what does "soft" mean in "soft 2-handle faucet?

Asked by: Anonymous
"Colony Soft" is the name of a line of plumbing fixtures with a rounded look. They are actually just as hard as other faucets. I'm sure somebody thought it was a good name and wouldn't confuse anybody.

Does this faucet come in a brushed nickel finish or any other finish? Is the faucet metal or plastic?

Asked by: Anonymous
It is made by strong metal, not plastic. The suface is high quality polished chrome. It is very shiny and last long time.

Is the water spout removable from the base

Leak around shroud connecting the base and the water spout. Wonder if there is a o ring needing replacement or can it be repaired?
Asked by: Anonymous
It should unscrew and you can get an O ring at the hardware store for a couple bucks. They get a lot of use so keep a spare. The threads will probably be full of lime and crud, so good luck.

What does adjustable flow rate mean?

Adjustable flow rate means that it doesn't have to have a continuous steady flow of water all the time, but can deliver a customizable water flow that ranges from relaxing to more invigorating.

Customer Reviews

Colony Soft 2-Handle Standard Kitchen Faucet with Gooseneck Spout in Polished Chrome is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality and pitiful customer service I purchased the Colony 2-handle kitchen faucet in 2012 and have had leaking and dripping problems with it ever since. Yesterday (2014) the valve nut broke inside one of the handles, the handle came off (water pressure) and I had a terrible mess all over our kitchen and into the floor below. I tried to get the replacement nut and was told by customer service at American standard that it would cost me unless I could produce the receipt of the item. There is a lifetime warranty on parts but, because I couldn't produce the receipt, I have to pay for parts (the vast, vast majority of people who buy household faucets must be the original owner of the faucet, so for AS to have such a ridiculous policy is just a poor business practice). Unbelievable. The representative didn't give a darn whether of not they lost my future business. Incredibly poor business practices. I will never purchase another item from American Standard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I loved this faucet for one year which is the time I have owned one. When we were remodeling our 60 year old house, I had the old faucet replaced with this one. Now, my husband removed the faucet handle because no water was running and the nut for the faucet broke. Now we have to buy another faucet. I would like to buy another one like this one, but if the parts don't hold up longer than 1 year, it's not worth it..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap is not cheap in the end This was a waste of time and energy. After installing this faucet in my laundry room sing, it dripped and would not stop. Yes, I cleared the line of any debris first but the faucet was defective out of the box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value faucet with good utility This faucet is great for washing pots and pans that normally gets in the way with lower installations. The handles slide very easily to get water from. I had trouble removing my old faucet but installation of this faucet was a breeze. Very happy with the purchase

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality Didn't have this for a year yet and the handle broke off, the handle is plastic and so it the fastener that the nut goes into. Cheaply made

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. It was easy to install and looks good. It is so nice to be able to put pitchers and large pots under the facuet and get them rinsed without having to fight the shorter facuets. Love being able to turn on the water, without having to touch the handles when your hands are really dirty or have food on them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from on a budget i'm doing a complete remodel and am on a very tight budget. this faucet is metal,,,not plastic like so many inexpensive ones on the market. so far it has worked perfect with no problems. it looks very nice and the high profile is great for washing larger items. 100% satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a piece of junk, American Standare brand has zero value here. I purchased this faucet from my local Home Depot. It has a "Lifetime Warranty" valid with copy of a purchase receipt. Mine is three years old. This is a PIECE OF JUNK. I don't understand why a manufacturer would build a terrible product like this only to be open to bad reviews. It must be a numbers game. They just don't care. So think about that when you put down your hard earned dollars for an American Standard product with a life time guarantee that fails after three years of light home use!
