is this product brushed or plated

Asked by: Anonymous
I am not involved with the manufacturing process so any answer is a guess. It is my understanding that the faucet is cast out of brass then the finish is applied. In this case since it is bronze color, the color is applied to the surface by a process or a method, and then at some point it is brushed to give the soft appearance. If you real question is how durable the finish will be over time, I have only owned the faucet for one week, and we do not use harsh or abrasive materials on it. It cleans up real nice with a soft washcloth or towel to remove waterdrops or bathroom powder.

It has been my experience that things arrive pretty quickly. Around one week, but I think that could vary depending on location.

A couple of years old and Leaks both under the cabinet and on top of the counter. I have a water-softener, but there is hard water stains under the finish. Throwing it away and going with another manufacturer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faucet leaked internally. This was a replacement for a previous purchase. Bought two and one of them leaked leaked. Had to pay a plumber $50 to install the replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad purchase: Integral leaks Unit has stainless braid supply lines that are integral to the control "module" in faucet body. No way to tighten/seal/replace the integrated supply lines. There is a slow leak that runs down the braid. Immediately after install doesn't appear to have a leak. However... I will not buy another American Standard faucet to replace this one. I recommend all buyers read reviews on Home Depot site before buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install, looks great! All 3 of our bathroom sinks have this faucet. The quick connect for the drain plug and the washer setup to secure the faucet to the counter makes this super easy to install. Our sinks are under mount so we installed without the oval plate. One drawback is after 5 years, 1 faucet started leaking from up inside the handle chassis so it didn't seem repairable. I think it might have been due to having to uninstall and re-install during a counter top re-model because we didn't have any issues prior to that. Obviously we liked the faucets enough to replace with the same model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should have checked the Reviews first!! Oh no.........mine leaks too. Just installed our new faucet and first time I turned on the water it began to leak. We found it was leaking internally from the faucet so there was nothing to tighten. Called the Hot Line but it was late Sat. so will have to wait till Mon. Was thinking they could tell me how to fix it or maybe I would return it for another one but after reading the reviews and so many people having the same problem.............think I better find something else. It's too bad, I really like the design and it looks great in the new bathroom but who wants to deal with a leaking faucet. Thought American Standard would be more reliable but seems like this problem has been going on for some time and hasn't been corrected by the company. Very disappointed!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Problem corrected!! After posting my review of the Espana bathroom faucet I received an e-mail from the American Standard Technical Team. They said the problem has been corrected and they are sending me a replacement. I also heard from the Customer Care Team, apologizing for the problem and offering any additional help I may need. I must say their quick response was very impressive. I feel American Standard is a company that is very concerned with customer satisfaction.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pure junk - it leaks!!! Bought a shiny new vanity for my little bathroom (off the bedroom) and after much ruminating on the type of faucet I needed/wanted, I selected this faucet. I was confident in my choice because it is - after all - American Standard, a well-known name in plumbing fixtures for more than 100 years. And it was a pricey little affair. After it was all hooked up and the cabinet cleaned up, I saw a puddle of water inside my new vanity! I stood on my head and leaned into the cabinet and found that this piece of junk was leaking INSIDE the faucet, and the water was dribbling down the cold-water supply line. What a hassle to pull it all out and return the thing. Right then, I decided I wanted a different brand name. When I went to Home Depot, there was an old plumbing guy (a clerk) and he said, "Oh gosh, if I'd been here earlier, I would have told you to stay away from that model. It's the MOST FREQUENTLY RETURNED faucet that we sell." No kidding. Came home with Moen and it works beautifully. Home Depot shouldn't be selling this junk.
