Customer Questions & Answers

someone said the spray keeps dropping and they have it scotch taped together

does this happen frequently and if so, what does Amer/Std do to remedy this?
Asked by: Anonymous
I bought this faucet a few years ago from my local Home Depot store, and the faucet is ONLY a couple of years old. The spray head hangs down and NEVER stays in place because the plastic piece broke a few months after install. The gooseneck moves in the base. According to American Standard, I have to replace the entire faucet to fix this problem. Customer Service is nice after waiting on hold for awhile, but will not do a thing, i.e. send anything - not even a screw, without your receipt. The rest of my home is Kohler, and their products are so much better than this! Avoid this American Standard product!

i know the fairbury swivels but, how far? will it swivel 360 degrees?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes I would say so. This faucet swivels a complete half circle. (it cant go in a full circle because I have a wall behind my sink preventing it) but it does swivel with out restrictions like past faucets had.

Does this faucet come with a base plate? If so what size. I am going to use this to replace my old three hole faucet, will that work?

Asked by: Anonymous

The faucet worked fine for a while, then the upper portion of the faucet dropped about an inch into the handle portion of the faucet and becomes very wobbly. You can pull it back up in place, but then when you swivel it, it drops back down again. Also, I have the black matte version and the paint has chipped up off the base plate in several places. Since time has gone by and I no longer have the receipt, I called American Standard to see what they could do. Customer service was rude and said nothing could be done without receipt. So needless to say, I will be replacing with another brand. You would think it would last longer than it has, but I would not recommend this product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst experience I bought this and got it installed by a licensed plumber. It had poor flow on hot side right after installation. Pull down was not latching properly either. My plumber performed different tests and concluded product is defective. After talking to customer service, we ended up returning the product and bought a different brand. But it costed me another installation, lost time and hassle. I will never trust American Standard Quality again. We also noticed that product does not have brand name engraved anywhere so if you havent bought it yourself or forgot which brand you did then in case of any complain you cant use customer service and may even end up buying the same bad quality product again.

It was more difficult to remove the old unit which required a basin wrench and a lot of elbow grease. The only negative was the instructions which are written more for an experienced plumber than the typical DIY homeowner. The up side to this is if you have internet, it's an easy search to find a tutorial video on Home Depot's site, American Standard or even youtube.com. The handle can be installed on either the right or left sides. The pull out sprayer works very well after adjustments to the counter weight which is not mentioned in the instructions or any of the videos anywhere. With that and only having the faucet for a couple weeks, I am not ready to give this 5 stars or recommend it just yet. More to come after several months of operation.

The gooseneck where it fits into the valve body is a very loose fit. It wobbles back and forth and moves up and down by approx an inch. In addition the water supply lines are too short. American Standard is sending us a replacement faucet but that also means another install for a senior citizen with a bad back!

I purchased this faucet for a budget kitchen remodel and it's been installed for about 2 weeks now. I like the Stainless steel finish and smooth operation of the control handle. One difference in functionality is the water volume coming out of the faucet is less than the 35 year-old faucet it replaced. The water supply tubes come with this faucet which make it convenient, but they are of smaller diameter than my original faucet, so the water pressure seems lower and it takes longer to fill a pot with this faucet over the old one. Installation was pretty easy, even for a 60+ year old Do-it-Yourselfer like me. Just make sure you use plenty of Teflon tape around hose/pipe connections to reduce the possibility of leaks. I like the ability to pull the spigot down to the surface of the sink and the ability to control the spray with the same hand. Looks nice, works nice, price was right ... yeah, I would buy it again if I needed one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from We have to replace it. Again. We initially installef the Fairbury in black. Loved it. After about a year, the black finish was completely pealing off. American Standard warranteed it, and replaced it with the nickel finish. Now, two years later, the neck moves up and down, and the faucet head doesn't always stay in place. We will be calling American Standard again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install good value We just bought and installed this faucet today. Very easy to install and looks great. Note: After installing the faucet and turning on the water, we experiencef low water flow. We tried a few things and finally unscrewed the faucet head and found that on the metal screen. Do, take off the faucet head and flush your lines.
