Customer Questions & Answers

I recently had installed a Marquette American Standard Faucet which has not worked wo leaking from drain.

My workman has worked on this faucet 2x, and it still leaks all over my bathroom floor. I'm ready to send it back, and order a different brand. The faucet has a speed connect drain, and I think that is where the problem may be. The water from the basin of the sink doesn't seem to drain out very fast, and when it's gone, most of it seems to be on my floor. This faucet definitely needs help. Any ideas?

The drain connection is a simple rubber stopper that is compressed to form fit the opening in the bottom of the sink. A number of things could be the source of the problem: a poor seat if not cinched tight enough or if seated cock-eyed; improper order or direction of assembly (the rubber piece must be fitted small end up to bottom of sink and with the slip disk between its flat bottom surface and the nut that tightens it up; missing silicone ring in the PVC connection; a cracked pipe or fitting; a non-standard hole size or shape in the basin; improperly fitted stopper connection, etc. I've recently installed three of these with zero drips from the drain fittings. Unless there was a defective part, I doubt that the supplied parts are at fault. If you have a chance to discuss the points above with your installer, or have him pinpoint the location of the leak, you might discover a solution before trying another product.

Instructions don't call for plumber's putty or caulk on the plastic base that sets on the sink. Necessary or not?

Asked by: Anonymous
I used caulk just around the holes. Some water can drip below when washing it.

dripptng bathroom faucet

My bathroom faucet is dripping. I can remove the handle but cannot remove the part where I believe the washers are located. Are there faucets made that do not have washers?
Asked by: Anonymous
It uses a cartridge, not washers. Here's the parts diagram: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/4f/4f28c327-a6aa-4eab-9411-93e3928b5f87.pdf

Marquette 4 in. Centerset 2-Handle Low Arc Bathroom Faucet in Brushed Nickel is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 98.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor drain design Bought 2 of these faucets. Husband took great pains to remove old faucets. While installing these new faucets, he made 2 trips to Home Depot for plumbing parts for these. Once installed, we realized water pools around each drain and stays standing. Water never drained completely. An entire day wasted and faucets removed and returned.

I liked the actual faucet, they would been a perfect fit, I didn’t care for the new plastic pop up mechanism, based on my lengthy plumbing experience I could see major repair issues in the future, I prefer the normal flapper pop up system. Therefore I returned them for another brand. To bad, I like American Standard products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We wanted to love it Pretty easy to install. We installed two in our bathroom but within a few months the finish started flaking off and they look terrible. Now were at the point that we need to uninstall and replace them. What a pain. Even with an easy to install faucet it still takes time and frustration to take them out and install new ones. ARG! WE will have to go through the added frustration of finding the receipt from Home Depot (luckily they told us they keep records attached to credit card numbers and will exchange for us), and trying to go through the process of the exchange.
