Customer Questions & Answers

I recently had installed a Marquette American Standard Faucet which has not worked wo leaking from drain.

My workman has worked on this faucet 2x, and it still leaks all over my bathroom floor. I'm ready to send it back, and order a different brand. The faucet has a speed connect drain, and I think that is where the problem may be. The water from the basin of the sink doesn't seem to drain out very fast, and when it's gone, most of it seems to be on my floor. This faucet definitely needs help. Any ideas?

The drain connection is a simple rubber stopper that is compressed to form fit the opening in the bottom of the sink. A number of things could be the source of the problem: a poor seat if not cinched tight enough or if seated cock-eyed; improper order or direction of assembly (the rubber piece must be fitted small end up to bottom of sink and with the slip disk between its flat bottom surface and the nut that tightens it up; missing silicone ring in the PVC connection; a cracked pipe or fitting; a non-standard hole size or shape in the basin; improperly fitted stopper connection, etc. I've recently installed three of these with zero drips from the drain fittings. Unless there was a defective part, I doubt that the supplied parts are at fault. If you have a chance to discuss the points above with your installer, or have him pinpoint the location of the leak, you might discover a solution before trying another product.

dripptng bathroom faucet

My bathroom faucet is dripping. I can remove the handle but cannot remove the part where I believe the washers are located. Are there faucets made that do not have washers?

It uses a cartridge, not washers. Here's the parts diagram: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/4f/4f28c327-a6aa-4eab-9411-93e3928b5f87.pdf

We have hard water. I noticed some of the other faucets said spot resistant. Is this one?

Also, some of the other faucets reviews were negative because they contained plastic parts. Does this one? Need for install this Sunday. If order online today will it be here in time?

Marquette 4 in. Centerset 2-Handle Low Arc Bathroom Faucet in Brushed Nickel is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy installation and high quality movement & finish This was a very easy faucet to install. It did not require any plumbers putty because it includes plastic gaskets and foam seals. Fasteners for the faucet went on fast and snugged up very tightly. Drain stopper cable almost TOO easy to install. Just attach to drain and give a quick turn and done. Needs no adjustment and works smooth every time. Amazing technology. I used this on a utility basin and gave it a very classy look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install for a Great Looking Faucet! I really can't believe how simple it was to install this faucet. Installation only took about 20 minutes after I had removed the old faucet and drain and cleaned up all the old plumber's putty and gunk in the trap. I was glad to discover that I didn't need to use plumber's putty when installing this new faucet. The whole process took about an hour and a half. Reconnecting the water supply lines was the only step during the installation that actually required a wrench. Otherwise everything could just be hand-tightened. Uninstalling the old faucet was another story though. I thought I was going to have to cut the old faucet drain off at one point! Luckily the last fitting finally broke free, and I finished washing out the trap at the 1 hour and 10 minute mark. The way the pop-up drain linkage is designed eliminates the need for adjusting a linkage and lever to the right position. Instead of the traditional setup, it's just a push/pull cable that screws into the drain. The whole assembly works great, with the sink holding water really well when the drain plug is down. There is a way to adjust the drain plug height in case it doesn't quite seal, but I didn't end up needing to do any adjustments after the install. The finish of the faucet is the perfect brushed nickel color, and looks much nicer than the old chrome faucet that it replaced. It does get water spots on it after using it for a while, but it wipes clean easily. The hot and cold levers turn smoothly, and there aren't any leaks when they're closed. The ceramic valves are a nice bonus too. An unexpectedly nice feature over the old knob-style hot and cold valves is that the levers give you an idea of what the mixture ratio is before you put your hands under the water. There's no noticeable reduction in water pressure through the faucet either. The only complaint that I have is that the drain flange is a little raised, and a ring of water puddles around it and will not finish draining (see picture). I think our sink design has some part in this, but it didn't happen with our old drain. It shouldn't be a major problem as long as the drain doesn't rust, but it's still a little unsightly. So far it's been installed for three weeks with no signs of discoloration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rust around drain ring Very disappointed with this faucet. Heavy rust developed around the drain ring (see picture). The drain ring is flat, not sloped downward so the water does not fully drain out and water collects around the drain ring. Even with this poor design, the drain ring still should not rust but it does. I will need to return this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest DYI project ever! I bought this faucet after reading many reviews - I wanted a quality product at a value price. I have several bathroom faucets to replace in our 35 year old house that are corroded and/or leaking, but can't afford to spend a fortune on each one. I like to shop online and pick up at the store, and that was the first plus for this project. My local store had what I wanted and had it ready within the hour. I'm a mediocre DIY-er (middle aged woman) and this was the simplest installation I could have imagined (after taking out the old faucet - that took forever! ) Once I had the old out and the work surface cleaned up, it was literally minutes before this was in and running like a champ. Thanks again, Home Depot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Faucet I am very pleased with this faucet. I did a quite a bit of research to find a great faucet that wouldn't cost too much, and those reviews pointed me to this faucet. It was very simple and quick to install and feels solid for the price. I haven't replaced a bathroom faucet in some time so I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of installing the drain assembly. The ease comes from the simplicity of the drain assembly's connection with the faucet, it uses a cable to clip into the drain-plug. This took just a couple of minutes to install. Overall I would buy this faucet again. I'm very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a snap to install This faucet is almost literally a snap to install. After spending an more than an hour yesterday trying to mount a different manufacturer's 8" faucet set that required using two wrenches and lots of finagling, this American Standard faucet was a breath of fresh air - it took about 15 minutes to install in a new sink and would have been less if I hadn't stopped to read the instructions to make sure it was really as simple as it seemed! No tools are required except to tighten the supply hoses to the faucet. The nuts holding the faucet are push-on and then turn-to-tighten. The faucet and drain have gaskets, no plumber's putty is required. The drain actuator is unique in my experience. The rod moves a cable that turns a cam in the drain pipe to open or close the stopper. The installed faucet is attractive and works smoothly. Oddly enough, there was a security tag stuck to the bottom of the gasket that goes between the sink and faucet. It would have caused problems if I hadn't noticed it and removed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation They have taken one of the most annoying features and made it simple. Anyone who has installed a faucet knows the hardest part is getting the stopper to work correctly. Even after all the adjustments, through time the stopper rod or lever slip and require realignment. With this design, all you have to do is attach the cable and you are done! Fantastic! And, this has been provided on a stylist faucet as well. The pictures show just how simple the stopper design is, and how it attaches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great faucet! This American Standard Marquette 4" faucet took about 10 minutes to install. It took longer to remove the old Kohler faucet with its standard klunky stopper mechanism and the plumber's putty that the prior installer used. When I finished, I kept looking in the box for parts and checking the instructions to see what I'd left out--I was done! The plug 'n' twist stopper on this unit consists of a cable that runs from the faucet unit to the stopper on the drain pipe--no mucking about with a stopper rod and figuring where on the rod I had to crimp the stopper mechanism. If you pay someone to install this, you're giving away your money, or you're just a very generous person. Unlike the 5 Glacier Bay faucets I put into my mom's house, this faucet required neither silicone caulk for the stopper, plumbers putty for the base nor tools to install the fixture itself on my sink. I only wish American Standard had brass finish fixtures in a price close to this. I like the gorgeous finish, the installation, the price and the warranty.
