Questions & Answers

What's the difference between the New Solar and New Salem bathtubs? They look identical from the photos. Also, what is the purpose of the small ledge at the bottom of the tub? Thanks! Dave

Asked by: Willnottakeaname
I noticed that the SOLAR tub spec sheet also notes Above floor rough (AFR) installations (no hole needed in the floor).  The SALEM tub does not note AFR and the spec sheet also shows a hole needed in the floor.   BUT, the Install Sheet is the same for both tubs and does not make this clear.  I have not purchased either tub, so I'm guessing based on the AM documentation.   Also, the AM documentation for both tubs lists the same Bathing Well Depth of 13 1/4 inches (337 mm) - I'm not sure if this is correct, but it may be and it may explain the over all height difference of the tubs (taller SOLAR has room under it for the drain and the shorter SALEM sits lower because the drain must go below the floor.  Again, my educated guess - it would be nice of AM to clarify here as I'm considering both of these tubs).

Who makes a bathtub that the bathing or soaking tub is shallow like 14" or so but the actual bathtub is the normal 22" or bigger? Bathtub is sitting on a concrete floor and waste line & trap are behind the wall in a stack. (backflow)?
