Product Overview

The American Standard Safe-T Heater is designed to work with most American Standard Whirlpool tubs. The heater helps maintain a consistent temperature in the tub, allowing for a long, relaxing soak.

  • Most American Standard Whirlpool tubs are pre-plumbed at the factory making them ready to accept the heater (check your model for compatibility)
  • Helps maintain a consistent water temperature for a longer soak
  • Equipped with a pre-set pressure switch so the pump must be running with water flowing in the Whirlpool to allow the heater to turn on
  • Includes an intelligent high-limit so that the safety circuit will not "false trip" from hot tap water; it will only turn the heater off if the thermostat fails
  • A separate 120-Volt AC/15 Amp dedicated circuit with GFCI protection must be installed for this heater

Would there be any issue putting the outlet the pump is plugged into on a switch so that those in the house, who do not like the water so warm, can turn it off when not wanted?
Asked by: RM
Hi...thats a GREAT question...in fact? I decided to make that an option with a (hard to please) client.. I simply had my electrician run a regular switch (about 2.5 feet off the floor and about 2 feet away from the actual jacuzzi), that we placed between the the power source and the actual heater...I named it 'the on demand heater' switch...so? When the water is getting chilly...and it will VERY fast drop in temperature you can control when and how long the heater is on...I'd like to add 2 other items...make sure the Heating unit AND Jacuzzi are plugged into a GFCI and that has a dedicated 20 amp back to the circuit breaker box...also? I made the decision to add the heater switch (on / off) right out of the reach of the immediate jacuzzi to avoid shock from wet hands...DONT forget to turn the heater switch off when the jacuzzi is off...Good Luck!!

Safe-T Heater is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the dough As others have, I would recommend this heater, at least if you live where you'll want warm water in your whirlpool. Also as has been mentioned, it's a good idea to install it prior to setting the tub. On the model I purchased, there is a side access panel that would allow it to be installed anytime, but removing the bypass tube and getting this in place was just easier when I could get to it from the back. Finally, there were questions about its ability to maintain temperature. It does fine; in fact, my wife draws her bath with water a bit cooler than she normally would, and it will slowly come up to temperature while the tub is operating. She actually doesn't need it as hot as it stays if starting out very warm.

It keeps the water from getting cold....so it counteracts the cooling effect the jacuzzi circulating water with bubbles has on the tub of water...its money VERY well spent...without it...your nice warm tub of water will soon be chilly and your relaxing time cut VERY short!...MUST Be on dedicated GFI line...ENJOY!

I called the manufacterer and they said the water has to be hot already for it turn on. So the only way it will work is I have to buy a larger hot water heater. The one I have is 40 gallons. Now I need an 80 gallon
