Product Overview

Carpet Cover is a temporary 3 mil, self-adhesive film featuring a water-based adhesive designed specifically for carpet. This film is reverse-wound on the roll for easy application. This strong film outperforms similar LDPE products and is strong enough that you can place a ladder on it without puncturing the film. Once the job is finished, simply pull up Carpet Cover and throw away with no worries about adhesive transfer or discoloring the carpet. Designed for jobs lasting up to 45 days.

How long can I leave this cover on top of flooring (hardwood or laminated)

leaving it down indefinitely

Has anyone left this on their carpet for a long period of time? My dog has been eliminating on area of my carpet and while I use pads inevitably it runs off the pad or the pad gets shifted and he goes right on the carpet. I was thinking about putting this down and then laying pads on top so if he misses the pad, the protective film will catch it and the carpet is saved. If I leave the film down for a few months will it ruin the carpet? Any experience? Thanks!

I have the same problem and I am going to give it a try and keep an eye on it for tears. For the "run-off" I use white vinegar for odor and/or hydrogen peroxide for the stain and bacteria elimination.

Was "way too difficult" to even put down, then when we took it up, we had to struggle to even get it up. We were very concerned that it would take some of the nap of the carpet as hard as we had to pull and tug to get it up. Was also concerned that it would pull the carpet away from the tack strip. I had to literally crawl on my hands and knees to stay close to the area that was being pulled up, otherwise, the carpet literally came up in the air the adhesive was so strong! Much too expensive for the small amount we used because it was wider than our hallway; therefore, leaving the hallway exposed to all the delivery traffic which is why we purchased it in the first place. Now ... what do we do with the remainder??? Certainly not going to put it on our carpet again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job Seems strong enough for the duration of a project. I had no problem laying it down by myself but it did take a few minutes to learn the technique. I like the width. It's kind of hard to follow a curved path but that's not a failing of the product, it's just the way it is. No problem pulling it up but it does require more attention than picking up paper off the floor.

Laid down over low pile commercial carpet for one week with very heavy construction foot traffic. Was able to pull up easily, no residue left, remained secure to carpet at all corners and edges during use. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product I am protecting a carpeted runner on a staircase with the film. I have done a complete gut on an upstairs bathroom. Plumbers , carpenters , and electricians beating on it and it is still good. The safety of nothing loose on the staircase is a huge plus. I love this product. The home owner is thrilled with my consideration. Sometimes it's the little things like this that the home owner will not look elswhere for another contractor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the Job Used to cover white carpet in new home when moving in. Applied night before the move and removed three days later. Worked fine. Stayed in place, did not move, hand trucks did not go through. All good. No problem after removal. But - removal, for me, was an on-the-job training exercise. The material sticks and stays in place. - maybe a little too well. When removing be very careful around seams and near the edge of the carpet at the moldings. Fibers could be pulled at the seams and carpet could be pulled/separated at the molding (ask me how I know) On-the-job training taught me not to try to pull it up as it when down. Instead carefully cut through from the bottom to remove pieces about 5 ft long at a time. Pull from the center of the room toward the tack strips while standing on the carpet near the piece being removed ( to preserve the stretch of your new carpet). At carpet mouldings remove the film parallel to the molding slowly and carefully. Identify the seams and remove film very very slowly.
