Is a special connector required to join 2 of these together?

Asked by: Lynn
Yes. It allows the ends to be firmly joined. Be sure to seal the inside at the connection with a good exterior grade silicon caulk.

how do I order this in white?

Asked by: mike
If you can visit a HD store I suggest you check with the Pro Desk and inquire. Typically manufacturers do not apply a color finish to a galvanized product but it may be possible for HD to order it for you. If not you can easily paint it yourself before installing. Be sure to properly prepare the surface before painting.

What is the correct way to paint these galvanized gutters?

What is the correct way to paint these galvanized gutters?
Asked by: HermosaBeach
I once worked at an automobile body and fender repair shop. If we had to prime and paint galvanized steel surfaces we would sand away all the factory paint and then wash with a detergent containing phosphates to etch the metal and then apply a primer of zinc chromate before applying the automotive paint. This is what the paint supplier recommended.

Customer Reviews

4 in. x 10 ft. Galvanized-Steel K-Style Gutter Mill Finish is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, easy to work with. I ripped out the cheap plastic gutters because I was tired of the leaks. These steel gutters are great - they are like the ones on my parents house in the SF bay area and they have had no probs with theirs ( house purchased in 1975 still there now) I do suggest that if you need to cut any peices to insert two of the supports ( one on either side of the cut line) and use a proper metal blade with a table top saw it will cut fairly easy and not distort the shape of the gutter. After assembly be very liberal with the calk at all joints from the inside and smooth things out with your fingers. Take your time installing, you wont be sorry. We have had 3 good storms and not one leak.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but could be better in one way The gutters are a nice gauge and well made. Much better than vinyl which I find tacky. This has fine lines. I cut them to length on my cutoff saw with carbide blade, 60 or 80 teeth at least, and I cut them upside down. I used their hidden snap lock fascia fastener parts, fastened every 2' to the fascia back board using a string line to make sure they line up. I used screws as easier than hammering in their nails, while standing on a ladder. Here's the part that frosts me about their "snap lock" bar. Once the fascia hangar parts are in place, one lifts the gutter up and under the hangar parts along the gutter length. So far so good. Then one hooks the snap lock bar to the front edge of the gutter and the other end slides down onto the hangar part tab. But the lock bar pops off the tab. It appears the designers thought a hammer blow would lock things together, but no way. I couldn't find a hammer that could do that, and besides with one hand on a ladder, another one trying to hold the bar onto the tab was hopeless. I cussed. No way I could do it...and I have been a handyman for years with lots of tricks. I cussed more as I took off the gutter, removed all of the fascia brackets and drilled a 1/8" diameter hole in the top of the tabs, so once I attached all the fascia brackets again, and lifted the gutter in place, I could slip the snap lock bars over the tab, and drill a sheet metal screw into the hole, keeping the snap bar from springing out. It really upsets me when manufacturers make things that seem like in theory they should work, but fail in reality. In summary, I do recommend the product as it is a good product, but save yourself grief, and drill a small hole and have some small sheet metal screws for final installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy gutter I installed 30 feet of this gutter system today. I used the hidden hanger with screws. It was suprisingly easy to work with and seems strong for the price. It makes for an easy do it yourself project that saves $$$
