Customer Questions & Answers

Can these be used with vinyl gutters?

Asked by: Blippy
You should be able too, just as long as it has the front lip that the hanger can hook on to.

Can I use the Amerimax Hangers to replace other 5 in. Hidden Hangers w/ Screws by another manufacturer?

That is, will they fit in the other manufacturer's gutter the same way? And, can I add Amerimax Hangers w/ Screws as "added support" while the gutters are already in place?
Asked by: Al
Yes you can, I have used them in all different types of gutters with no issues.

how far apart should these be placed?

Asked by: Ray
This is little tricky. If you get snow loads then about 24", if not say 36".

I have repaired so many gutters over the years and they are never are the ones that have these. The nail style may be cheaper in cost but will pull out overtime. These drive in nice and tight and can be used over and over if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gutter hanger I have been repairing many a house that needs the gutters to be rehung. I have used the large screws, which are much better than the original spikes. Now that I found these screw in brackets, they are all I use for the standard gutters. I can put them on the gutter before I raise them up and then set one end, get the proper down slop and set any of the others. They stay put, they are easy to screw in, and the are very strong. I highly recommend these for both new and repair installations that require gutter hangers. Great idea - now all I need is a bulk pac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Spikes, Easy to Install Far superior to spikes, cleaner looking install, and enough room above the screw for drip edge to cover the back edge of the gutter. One important tip - DON'T just screw into the facia board, make sure you catch the rafter tail for a solid anchor (that's why the screw's a couple inches long). Otherwise, first big snow or any kind of weight and the gutter's coming down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from galvanized gutter hanger I was using spikes to rehang my gutters. It was a bit of a hassle to bang the spikes in. My neighbor who is a home remodeler suggested these. I tried them and it is much easier to use. Highly recommend these. I just have to carry my cordless drill instead of a hammer but that really isn't a con.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gutter Fastener I spent a lot time looking at the options for fastening the gutter to the fascia board. These worked well, except it does not allow the back of the gutter to sit flat against the fascia board. Not sure if this will be an issue, but they installed very easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work well I don't understand the one star reviews. These are easy to install with a battery power drill or driver and a 1/4" socket, and they do not show. They are galvanized steel, not aluminum. They make for a strong gutter installation that is suitable for most regions. In a challenging region where the gutter may become full to the top with ice, I would probably choose a more elaborate bracket system. If you are concerned about the screw hole through the back of the gutter, that is easily taken care of with a dab of caulk.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shear strength is terrible. I installed every 24 inches and made sure they were at rafter points even though my fascia is a 2x8. After one snow the entire gutter collapsed. Every screw was sheared 3/16 past clamp area. I had the last gutter up for 20 years in every Ohio snow and freeze. These are junk, but you get what you pay for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These hangers have a minor problem Easy to install but the center of my gutter sagged and the hanger came loose from the gutter. I have these every 18 inches. A little over kill as the literature I got when I purchased them was to place on 24 inch centers or attach to ends of rafters. I did not notice when they started sagging and the water damaged my fascia board and the eave covering. If you use these check they have not bent or disengaged from the gutter every time you clean the gutter spring and fall. These do not allow the gutter to sit against the fascia. You might try putting shim between the fascia and the gutter. This should stop the gutter from sagging. Good luck.
