Customer Questions & Answers

Installation Instructions would be helpful

I looked all over the Home Depot site as well as Amerimax website with no installation instructions. Not helpful at all if you want people to install them correctly to avoid problems and bad reviews and returns.

Agreed! Not having some tips for installation is a drawback. DIY folks like to be able to research a project online if they've never done it before to get some practical advice on potential problem areas.

how to install the 6ft. white vinyl leaf guard plus

we had them installed and had to take them out for 2 months and don't remember how they go back in
Asked by: jackie
Don't know why you'd have to take them out..they are there for reason..install them securely by snapping them to the lip on each side...you can also secure it every foot or so by putting a #6 X 1/2" stainless sheet metal screw thru the wide lip..it seals around the screw so no leaks....

How to properly install these white vinyl leaf guards plus.

Asked by: Joe
The Leaf Guard Plus clips onto the front and back end of the vinyl gutter hook. It does "snap/lock" into the hook and is not easily disengaged. The rubber deflectors go on the top side of the guard.

both edges have lips on them that you secure to your flashing/ gutter...if nothing else, insert a #6 X 1/2" stainless sheet metal screw in the lip to secure it...

Where they meet, however, some have no real anchor. We did overlap some a little bit because the braces were in a place where it wasn't optimal for the leaf guard to be secured. They don't clip together. We will have to see if they stay in place during strong winds. The ones we've used previously seemed more secure over long runs where they connect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leaf covert Lack of installation instructions - but not too hard to figure out. The fit is 'decent' but tends to buckle a bit over longer spans. You need to add extra mounting brackets to the gutter to hold it down but overall, it works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Causes more problems then it solves We replaced our metal gutters with vinyl and decided to get the leaf guard as well. Big mistake. The gutters are great but the leaf guards are useless. They do not stay attached to the gutter clips in high winds. We ended up having to attach the sections together with quick ties. In the winter and in very heavy rain the water tends to go over the edge of the gutter and not thru the holes. This causes lots of drips which is why we have gutters in the first place - to move the water so it does not drip on you. Leaves may not get into your gutters but they still collect on top of the leaf guard. This is our second fall & winter with them in place. As soon as I get a ladder tall enough to reach them - off they come.
