Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy installation Installation was easy and straightforward. From a distance you can't even tell they're are guards on the gutters July 27, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Wont stay in place The clips just don't work. They pop off constantly, have to be squeezed with pliers and pressed back into place, just to pop off again. May 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grill mesh I actually used this as grille mesh for my Dodge Dakota. Looks great but I'll probably have to paint it. That's what plasti dip is for. It's very easy to manipulate with tin snips but be sure to wear gloves! March 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy and effective Installed 150 feet of this product about 2 months ago, observed it during light and heavy rains. It works fine except where the high-roof downspout adds to the low-roof runoff; there I added a sheet metal diverter (see photos). Installation was easy. No need to flatten them (the curve prevents them from curling), but I did install them under the shingles. Overlapped them about 1/2 inch but probably didn't need to. Finished in about 6 hours work, mostly on 28-ft ladder. Wonder how they work in snow and ice? August 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best gutter guard I have had Amerimax 85280 Hinged Gutter Guards on my roof for 8 years. I had to re-attach them recently after putting on a new roof. The gutters are aluminum with too thick of an edge to clip the guards on. My previous roof had thin enough shingles that I just clipped the guards on the shingles. They had a tendency to blow up in a very high wind since the hinge was away from the wind, but otherwise were the best gutter guards I have seen. The new shingles were too thick to hold the guard clips; browsing the internet didn’t reveal any guard products that came close to the Amerimax – no matter how good the guard, something able to clog the gutter drain will eventually get in. The beauty of the Amerimax is that they flip up out of the way for easy cleaning (besides keeping most of the debris out in the first place). After thinking it over, I decided keep my Amerimax guards and drill a hole in each hinge and screw the hinge to the gutter. I used an 11/64 cobalt drill bit (cobalt is necessary) to drill the hole and a set of needle nose pliers to hold the hinge. It took less than an hour to drill the hinges on 35 guards. I used a pistol grip electric screw driver and 6 x ½ metal screws to attach the guards. I used a Sharpee marker to mark where to drill, moved the hinge aside, drilled the screw in with the screw driver, then backed the screw out, put the hinge in place, and screwed the hinge down. See the attached photos. With the hinged side on the leading edge of the gutter, the blow up issue seems to be gone. I am pleased to have the guards back in place. August 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Work Great Over my 40+ years owning several homes I've used several varieties if gutter covers, including the solid "helmets". Our current home gets quite a bit of rain during the fall and winter months, and being surrounded by a mix of very tall pine and hickory trees, I am very concerned about keeping the gutters clear and working. Since installing these guards this summer, we've had several months of some fairly heavy weather, e.g., wind-driven rain, very heavy leaf-fall, and the gutter covers and "clips" have held well. The leaves are not collecting on my roof, and my gutters are remaining clean. Installing these - I installed approximately 225 feet of these in an afternoon, and I understand the criticisms that some have posted about the "clips". When I installed these this summer I found the clips to work well when I slightly crimped the edge of my gutters just at each of the clips' contact. I "got the hang of it" after installing the the second or third piece, and the the rest of the installation moved along at a good pace. I'm very happy with these and recommend them. November 23, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rust Well, they're cheap enough. Ok for a one story house where access is easy. They don't deal with snow very well and after a few years they start rusting. they also don't block pine straw very well. I did an entire 2 story house with these and now have to replace them. What a pain. November 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Useless They are cheap and seem good value for money but they are badly designed, a pain to install and pretty useless. The clips do not hold the guards on to the gutter well. While I was trying to fit them, the slightest nudge caused the clips to ping off the gutter. The wire mesh is pretty flexible but this means it does not sit flush with the tiles. As I was installing them I noticed many places where there was a significant gap between the mesh and the roof tile, which will allow debris to get in to the gutter. I ended up trying to fold and bend the guards to wedge them under the tiles but that was not a good solution. I also purchased the 25 pack. Biggest issue I had with these, and the reason I gave up, removed those I had installed, and went for a refund, was that the box of 25 guards (taped and staple sealed) had only 16 guards in it.
