Customer Questions & Answers

Can Extend a Spout be kept outside in below freezing winter weather?

Live in Ottawa, Canada:. lots of snow and freezing conditions from January to April; would have a 37 foot run
Asked by: Misty
I left mine outside in NW Ohio year round.... we had snow and ice beginning in Nov and lasting until Mar. Never had any problems with it in the spring after the winter, and I bought it 8 years ago.

If you accidentally step on this product, is is strong enough to hold you, or will it crush or split?

Asked by: CR
A lot of factors to consider... how much do you weigh, how long did you step on the product, what type of surface under the product (grass, pavement, gravel, etc). I can't remember if I've ever stepped on one.

Customer Reviews

Black Extend-A-Spout is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally found a downspout extender that works near a curb This was my second try at a downspout extender. As you can see from the photos, I had to work around a curb. My husband was also picky about it not extending too far into the driveway, and this one hugs the curb well. I bought two of the separate extenders, which were reasonably priced. So what you see in the photo of the full install is the original product (3 pieces), plus two extenders (2 pieces). It was all very easy to attach - no tools. We had a very heavy rain storm with heavy winds, and it was twisted up onto the mulched area shown in the picture, but no pieces were lost and it didn't come loose. I just twisted it back in place with no problem. I'm sold!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product I really like this product. I bought 4. It does a nice job but I did have to screw the product to the gutter because it kept falling off and it does say in the instructions you may have to do this. The only other problem I had with the product is that it stores water inside the unit making an excellent place for breeding mosquitoes so to solve this problem I drilled small holes in the product where the water was sitting to let it drain after it finishes raining. I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weird gutter downspout placement problem-SOLVED! This assembly is actually for a ground level gutter, however, it is working perfectly on my lower roof! Water was draining onto the roof, and eventually into the light fixture and down the side of the house causing dampness on the bottom floor. I originally thought to place a gutter there, but thought it would look even weirder having 10 ft long piece of white gutter on the roof over my front door. This has been in place for over a month, no more problems with dampness or moisture in my lower level and no more wet spots on the bricks near the door when we get continuous rain! Not really noticeable as a gutter would have been. It took less than 30 minutes to install- hubby did it! Very cost effective too! Have you priced having a gutter downspout relocated??? Not really sure why the original owners allowed it to be placed there in the first place! Totally satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you have a need.......... I needed to extend a downspout away from my house however it has to cross a walkway. I currently had a wooden 2 x 4 with a channel cut into the center doing the job but wanted something better. This extension fit the bill: easily fit over the outlet spout and low-profile crossing the walkway (less chance of tripping). Other diverters were closer to being a 3 or 4 inch pipe, which made for a big tripping hazzard.
