Haven't tried, but suspect they could not be removed and reinstalled too many times before they would not hold well in wood fascia. I believe the intention is that they are installed once, then left alone. These parts are plastic (PVC, I think) so not sure how well they would stand up to snow weight. But I wonder if you could reinforce the gutters to handle extra weight? Perhaps install galvanized steel ell brackets, angles, or straps under the gutter maybe every few feet to give it greater support in addition to the hangers? Check HD stocks of "Builders Hardware." And even though these parts are galvanized, painting them will increase their life in outdoor environment. Paint same color as gutter and/or fascia may also make them less visible, improving aesthetics. Read Less

How the heck does this attach to the facia? Do you screw through it? Need better shots of this part. As well, how doe the K Gutter attach? Doesn't seem possible when the back lip of the K gutter goes in a different direction.

Home Depot, need more clarity.....

Answer:
Starting in the middle of each gutter section, use 1-1/2" screws to fasten the hooks into the fascia along your 'guide' line. The lightweight assembly will be supported temporarily while you fasten the remaining hooks. The back edge of the gutter fits in the slot on the back of the hook and the front part of the hook is attached to the front lip of the gutter.

Mounting screw size?

I could not find specification for the proper screw size for mounting the M1622 (or presumably its white equivalent) hidden hanger hook. Measured mounting hole for several, and it appears to be 0.141-0.144 inches, which I believe is the proper clearance hole for a #6 screw. Mounted to a 1 1/2 inch thick fascia, the screw goes in at an angle, so it appears that a screw length of 1.5 to 2 inches is appropriate. And where the screw head ends up seems to accommodate a flat-head screw best. However, one commenter said he used #8 screws, which might bind in this mounting hole. Several other commenters noted that they experienced part breakage during installation, which may indicate they used an over-large screw. Display at my local HD also included a stock of #8 x 1.5" screws, Amerimax #L0615, but no others. These seem too large. Other problem is that I could not find any stock of suitable #6 flat-head, 1.5-2 inch, self taping wood screws although there were lots of #8 screws available. I am considering drilling out the mounting hole to clear a #8 screw, but this might also weaken the part.

No answers posted after a month - Found my own solution. After some research, settled on Grabber-brand X400RG deck & fence screws, #6 x 1.625 inches. These high quality, hard-steel, coated screws were ideal for this application, but on average were still a bit too large for existing mounting hole in M1622 gutter hanger. Measured a sample of screws - Average diameter was 0.152 inches, range 0.149-0.154. Read More

Measured a sample of screws - Average diameter was 0.152 inches, range 0.149-0.154. Average hole size in M1622 gutter hooks was 0.144 inches (~std #6 screw clearance), 0.008 inches smaller. Solution was to drill out mounting holes using a 5/32 drill bit (0.156 inches dia). Amount of material removed was very small, much less than if I had drilled these holes out for #8 screws, so hanger strength should not be compromised. It was not - I needed 18 hangers for my project, and all installed easily with no breakage. Only problem was that smallest quantity of screws I could find was 1 lb box, about 200 screws I think. But these could come in handy for other outdoor projects. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Product great! It's a shame that I had to order this online when my local store didn't carry this product but another store 90 miles away did? No complaint about product but availability was. My local store didn't carry this product but another store 90 miles away did, same state, but I could order online which was the best way to do than to drive 180 miles round trip. August 12, 2014
