Product is composed of a coated, fairly heavy gauge sheet steel. It does install rather easily depending on your skill set and tool inventory. All of the 3' sections are pre cut for overlapping. The product is designed to tuck the back under the shingles and hook in the front in the upper gutter channel. I used no screws to fasten the fronts, but you may need them if you live in a windy area. I also positioned my gutters to allow the guard to follow the slope of the roofline, while also allowing some water drainage slope. We have had some extremely heavy rains here recently and I have peeked outside during them to verify that the guards function very well with only minute amounts of overflow trickles from the front lip. If pressed to guess, I'd say 99.9% of the water is flowing down the gutter, during periods of rainfall that probably approach 4"/hr. rates. Now the not so good: The sections are not meant to bend (the coating will flake off), so closing off an exposed end to varmints was accomplished by adding a short piece of gutter foam and a custom cut piece of PVC "wood trim". Shipment arrived with several bent corners but I had a metal bending tool that allowed me to flatten them back without damage.

Well made product delivered in a timely fashion.
First,...Guards attached to 20+ yr old gutters that have lips slightly bent over the years. As such, I had to install fasteners
to keep the Guards aligned for a smooth finish. Self tapping 3/4" sheet metal screws made this very easy. To ensure closed ends of the gutter run to prevent critters from entering gutter, I had to cut a 3" tab on each end. Instructions included in shipment did not address this. Fortunately, previous experience with Amerimax products gave me an idea as to how to cut the tab.
Notched ends provided a near seemless run of guards.
Do wear gloves to prevent cuts while working these guards. Rubber palms help position Guards during installation.
Keep in mind that with any Gutter Guard, periodic maintenance of the gutter requires flushing to remove grit that has come off of the shingles. Leaves and other debris should not be a problem.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jim Lots of rain runs over the edge
The holes are so small that the surface tension of the drops stops them from flowing through. In a light rain, almost all of the rain ran right over the surface of the guard, over the edge of the gutter and dripped right onto the ground. I pulled off the one closest to the downspout and there was very little water actually getting into the gutter. I'll try to return these.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mcs1 Difficult to install, do not work well
Hard to install on existing gutters. Requires cutting and bending. Does not collect all the water. Water runs over the ledge and onto the ground. Expensive as well. I bought 4 to test, installed 2, which don't work very well, others sitting in garage. - Oh well, I tried it.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fran Good product but installation can be difficult.
This gutter guard performs well in a light or moderate rain, and fair in a heavy rain. Installation could be relatively simple under ideal conditions, but that was not my experience. Since gutters are not always perfectly straight, the guards will pop out of their groove, and therefore need to be secured with screws - not an easy task 20 feet up on a ladder. Corners require cutting, etc.

Product is a bit pricey but is well made and easy to install. I didn't need to cut it so I can't comment on how difficult cutting the steel would be. Has handled very heavy rain with no problem.
