Customer Questions & Answers

What is the width of the blade at the bottom of the spade?

The specs say the blade is over 7 inches wide but I can't tell if that is at the top where you put your foot, or at the bottom where it penetrates the soil.
Asked by: WeekendGardener63
Three or four inches up from the blade tip, it's approx 7" wide.

The wider flange for the foot is a big plus in my mind. Will use it to shape post holes to proper depth and width for 6" by 6" wooden fence braces and 9"+ diameter fence posts for a cattle gate. Blade appears quite durable but I wish the leading edge was sharper. I'll fix that myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ......like a spoon for the cake! A very efficient tool. I was skeptical about a trenching with a spade in my dry clay soil; but I was wrong. This tool was like digging a cake with spoon. i do really appreciate it. it is very easy to use; just give a push with your foot, and there it goes down... Nice engineering design behind the manufacturing; and it is made in the USA too!
