Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This shovel has its purpose I bought this shovel because it is on the lighter side yet seems durable enough (even lighter than the HDX shovel, I believe). Sadly, I only got to use it one time because a contractor ended up taking it the following week. Argg! I would make them buy me a new one, but they did a big job and did it well, and for a great price. I don't think they meant to take it; they probably thought it was theirs since there were like 10 guys. Nonetheless, I really like the lighter weight. Even a slightly heavier shovel will tire you out sooner. If you don't do a lot of forceful foot/heel digging (where some people say it may bend), it really is a pleasure to use. I will probably buy it again. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Product I have not had this shovel 2 weeks and i went to start digging and it bent,Here are the 2 pictures one of bent shovel and one of spot I Just started to dig not even 10 minutes ago March 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Couldnt have bought a worse shovel! I was digging a 6" trench in a backyard 70' x 30' to install a sprinkler system, the shovel lasted about an hour before the wooden handle snapped clean off at the base of the shovel head. Fortunately Home Depot is awesome and didnt question the return. Unfortunately I have to go back to the customers house tomorrow with a new shovel and finish the job. September 15, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cheaply made, lasted one year I bought this shovel last year and put it through a little work to dig up/around some small shrubs. However - this year I tried it on a left over concrete fence post footing and the thing bent in HALF, and the metal head almost came off the wooden handle. I was ticked. Had to stop the project to go back to Depot for another shovel. Just buy the more expensive shovel that will last longer. April 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Shovel I decided to go with the Ames Round Point Shovel due to it's lower price point. I expected average quality but got more. I put this shovel to the test... Digging up bushes, roots, etc. The shovel has an awesome place where your feet can go to give maximum force. Great shovel for a great bargain. March 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Metal blade tore under normal use I used this shovel for normal digging around the yard and garden. After about one year of use the shovel developed a tear in the metal near the handle. The blade bent. Home Depot customer service told me that the warranty period for hardware is 90 days. The Ames web site also states that the warranty is 90 days. For a tool that should last for many years, that shows an extreme lack of confidence in their tools. I would avoid Ames products altogether. January 2, 2015
