This is a great cultivator similar to the hand cultivator that you would use in flower beds, except with this one you can stand up and avoid getting down on all fours. It is very strong and sturdy. I let one of my large flower beds around the edges of my swimming pool be taken over with weeds and grass which got up to over a foot tall. I tried using a hand cultivator, digging and pulling things out by the roots, but I had to be on my knees. I finally took my brush cutter to cut it down to ground, then took the 5-tine welded cultivator from Home Depot to dig up the roots and can do it standing up.

This tool has a myriad of uses but it one of my favorite yard and gardening tools. It is a replacement for a tool I had for years that unfortunately outlived its usefulness after the original wooden handle got too old, split, and even with glue and wire could not hold up to heavy use. Handle is now sealed in plastic preventing water intrusion. I lost the head trying to retrieve a coconut from a pond in my yard. Old age is the only problem here, and it was old!

The tines spin around making it fairly hard to use this to turn up actual soil. If it's already loose I guess it works but you're better off spending a more to buy something solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A nice discovery for me! (See below) For years, I've been using garden tools that were hand-me-downs from family, friends and garage sales. That means using hoes, small rakes, pitchforks and etc. They are all good, but not for small gardens with tight rows, spaces between plants you don't want to uproot, or just for hogging out pesky weeds and aerating at the same time. This cultivator does the trick. If you're a guy with big paws, getting used to the thinner handle will be like graduating from kindergarten pencils, the size of a small log & clumsy, to a good old fashioned #2 Ticonderoga pencil for the "professional" 3rd graders. You're gonna like it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Chinese Item Broke after one use - cheap Chinese product. Couldn't find anything similar in the store that was made in the USA. Funny thing is it said made in China but assembled in the USA - which basically meant a Home Depot employee tightened the metal piece to the wood piece LOL

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job It did what it needed to do, so that makes me happy. The fork is sturdy, but the other parts wear easily. This does nothing against the purpose of the product; just aesthetically I think it looks more worn out then it actually was. I'll keep using it for a long time hopefully though. I like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long handle cultivator I needed a long handle cultivator because I am physically disabled and unable to bend to the garden. This cultivator was perfect for my need and made the job painless and easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken easily I bourght my floral cultivator to use in a tiny vegetable garden with my daughters. The first time I used it the cultivator broke when I inadverdantly hit it on a small rock under the surface of the soil. It broke at the weld where the inner claws attach to the cultivator. Very weak weld. The tool could easily be broken accidentally if this is the quality of the weld. Steer clear of this product.
