Answer:
The warranty covers all parts of the tool against manufacturer defect under normal, intended use. If purchased from a Home Depot, the tool can be returned to the store as well.

I might actually have to change that answer. Ames just contacted me and, apparently, my documentation got lost in cyber space. They said they are going to replace the item as soon as I re-send the pictures. That would make their warranty quite solid in my book.

Apparently, the 15 year manufacturer warranty is just a pretty sticker on the tool. My handle broke after 1 year. The item was so lightly used that the sticker was still readable. You could, in fact, see the knot in the wood that created the weak point where the handle snapped; so it was clearly a defective handle. I contacted the company, they asked for more information, and I never heard a word back Read More

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Works very well! I am happy with this products performance. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cadillac of diggers Has rubber grips to protect hands and a set of measurements printed on the side so you know how deep you dug. May 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Broke on the third hole! The wooden handle broke in half where it attaches to digger. I will never buy another Ames product because of this and my Ames shovel broke in where it attaches to shovel. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for your money. Feels solid and has measurements on the side for measuring depth. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good digger This has held up pretty well, so far. Read several reviews that said it didn't hold up for more than 2 or 3 holes. They must've been digging in rocks? April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The weekend project Great post hole digger. I was able to replace two broken post and keep my fence from being blown down by strong winds. Also having measure guide on the post make it easy to see how deep you have dug. I didn't have pulling out a measuring tape every few minutes. Highly recommended. July 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Handle broke on 8th fence post hole. A picture is worth a thousand words. A total of 8 holes dug in light, sandy soil ... well, actually 7 1/2 holes dug. Stored indoors, never used in wet or inclement weather, and meticulously maintained. Replacing handles every 7 or 8 holes was definitely not part of my budget. And, yes. I loved it until it broke. But, I could feel the wood starting to give by the 5th hole. May 31, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product! Good product! Worked very well! No issues! Did the Job! February 22, 2016
