Rated 2.0 out of 5.0Â by BBoulier Hose is cheap, rest (mechanical) seems OK.
Wanted something more industrial for home use but not break my bank account. Had this about 18 months and the hose is cracked and leaking, it has small cracks all over it but the worst is at the crimp. I'm now looking at a replacement hose from another supplier.

Just as the other reviewers posted for this hose reel, I had a problem with the poor quality Chinese hose this reel ships with. After noticing my air pressure dropping quickly right after installation, I had to spend extra time finding out exactly where the leak was coming from. After eliminating my own plumbing and the swivel seal connection of the reel, I determined the leak was from the hose.
I put the end of the hose in a bucket of water and soon discovered bubbles coming from the factory crimp at one end. I removed the hose and replaced it with a brand new high quality Goodyear rubber hose. This solved the problem.
Upon further inspection of the removed hose, I found the REAL problem that was causing my air leak. In the middle of the 50' hose, I found that it had burst open, and this is where the majority of the leaking was coming from.
In the attached picture above the black tape, you can see the defect in this hose.
Also, this reel ships with 3/8" sized threads where the air fittings need to be installed. Since most all air fittings and hoses use 1/4" size threads, you must add two bell reducers to be able to use this reel with those.
After having this unit installed for only 24 hours, I can say that the mechanical parts of the reel itself seem to be made as well as others priced the same. It extends and retracts the new hose smoothly as it should.
I would not recommend this reel because of the junky quality of the hose it ships with. If you do purchase one, save yourself the headaches I had and swap out the hose with a quality hose.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0Â by NYJeff Not as industrial as box would lead you to believe
The printing on the box would make you believe this is truly an industrial grade product, but this couldn't be further from the truth. It is more of a home use product. Included hose is of poor quality. Not even the same quality as the Amflo 50' hose that you can buy separately. Reel will not lock reliably if pulling hose at an angle. Frame flexes when pulling hose at an angle, which prevents locking paw from engaging teeth. Paw rides at edge of locking mechanism, so position is not deep enough to engage teeth when pulling hose at an angle with frame flexing. Adding a washer should correct this, but it should not be necessary to modify a product to make it work right.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0Â by Mark Bad reviews were accurate after all.
I read the reviews before purchasing. I decided to go to a local store, pull one out of the box and examined it. The outer material was like silicon and very durable looking and work worthy. I felt that the bad reviews were unwarranted. I bought it in Dec. of last year. I use it in my shop. I am retired and only person using it and that is seldom and I am careful with my equipment.
After using it for all of about 20 times since then, in June I was rotating the tires on my granddaughter's vehicle when I heard a pop.
Investigation revealed that about 3" behind the air tool's connector the hose split about 1" and I could feel air coming out.
Fast forward. I got a 1 year guarantee from the BB store and was only into half that but mounting this sucker on the wall, about 8' off the floor was a daunting task and I really didn't feel like taking it down. Besides, had I not wanted a spring return hose I wouldn't have bothered in the first place.
So I remove the hose and replace it with locally auto parts store purchased GoodYear hose made in the USA.
Upon inspecting the hose, the problem lies in the fact that there is little or no plasticizer in the inner rubber layer; it is brittle and upon bending cracks easily. Once this inner liner has cracked, and that takes little effort, the air goes through the reinforcing material and attacks the outer covering. Since no support is outside that covering it yields.
Solution: Get a different material for the inner liner that will bend without breaking and you should have a quality hose.
I have a sample of the hose where I show the inner liner cracking with minimum bending and can take and upload photos. I was going to do it today but forgot the hose. If it matters I can do it.
Dissatisfied customer on this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0Â by Jimswitz Spring Failure at 42 Ft
While testing the retractable reel, I pulled the hose out to 42 feet in length, then heard a loud snap and the reel lost all retraction ability. Install took two days with parts and labor. Very disappointed to say the least and would purchase with caution. No hose issues... Yet. No receipt so this one is on me I guess. Going with Goodyear reel and spending the extra$$$
