Installed this in a residential garage. System has a valve at the compressor, so for the most part there is no pressure in the hose except when it is needed, maybe 5 or 6 times a month. No UV exposure. Even under those "ideal" conditions the hose has cracked and blown holes in a number of places starting less than a year after it was installed.. I used to just cut off the end past the blow out and severe cracking. Now I have noticed a blister about half-way down the remaining length. So I will have to remove the poor quality hose this came with and install a high quality hose. Pro- the reel itself works great. But in hindsight I should have spent the extra money for a unit with a quality hose and saved myself time and money down the road.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Works great in the concrete environment
Mounted to a piece of red iron. My guys use it everyday. I've got about 3 of these and maybe I just have luck or maybe the environment(concrete/wet floors/dries out when rolled up/ lots of oil all over everything) keeps the hoses from rotting out. I've had some for 2 years and the hoses are still good.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by BBoulier Hose is cheap, rest (mechanical) seems OK.
Wanted something more industrial for home use but not break my bank account. Had this about 18 months and the hose is cracked and leaking, it has small cracks all over it but the worst is at the crimp. I'm now looking at a replacement hose from another supplier.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LK Hose is awful
The reel is nice, but the hose itself lasted less than a year before it started cracking and leaking big time. I installed two of these in my wood shop - they get mild use and should have never cracked the way that they did. I ordered a different hose, and this is the one I got, so I installed them to avoid the hassle of returning them. BIG mistake!

Just as the other reviewers posted for this hose reel, I had a problem with the poor quality Chinese hose this reel ships with. After noticing my air pressure dropping quickly right after installation, I had to spend extra time finding out exactly where the leak was coming from. After eliminating my own plumbing and the swivel seal connection of the reel, I determined the leak was from the hose.
I put the end of the hose in a bucket of water and soon discovered bubbles coming from the factory crimp at one end. I removed the hose and replaced it with a brand new high quality Goodyear rubber hose. This solved the problem.
Upon further inspection of the removed hose, I found the REAL problem that was causing my air leak. In the middle of the 50' hose, I found that it had burst open, and this is where the majority of the leaking was coming from.
In the attached picture above the black tape, you can see the defect in this hose.
Also, this reel ships with 3/8" sized threads where the air fittings need to be installed. Since most all air fittings and hoses use 1/4" size threads, you must add two bell reducers to be able to use this reel with those.
After having this unit installed for only 24 hours, I can say that the mechanical parts of the reel itself seem to be made as well as others priced the same. It extends and retracts the new hose smoothly as it should.
I would not recommend this reel because of the junky quality of the hose it ships with. If you do purchase one, save yourself the headaches I had and swap out the hose with a quality hose.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nicknamesaredumb Junk hose, moderate reel
So like everyone else has said, the air hose on this stuff is entirely junk. Cracks all over it, even when not exposed to UV. I have mine in my garage and the hose was pretty cracked after one year and the coupler hose itself had developed leaks from cracking.
That said, the reel mechanism works decently well I honestly wish they just sold it by itself. Though I have a feeling the price would only be about $5 less given the grade of hose they're slapping on this thing.
I loaded the reel up with some flexzilla hose and everything is working just fine.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LK88 Awful quality, hoses are junk.
I ordered two of a different brand from my local HD, but they gave me these instead and insisted that they use them in-store and they're great. I was hesitant because of the poor reviews, but took the chance - and it ends up the reviews were spot-on. I've had these in my woodshop for about a year and the hoses are dry-rotted and cracking, and leaking all over the place, especially by the fittings. One gets moderate use, the other barely gets used, and they are both in the same awful shape. I can deal with the stubborn locking system on them, but the hoses are absolute junk. DO NOT buy these!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CutsALotOfStuff Not as industrial as box would lead you to believe
The printing on the box would make you believe this is truly an industrial grade product, but this couldn't be further from the truth. It is more of a home use product. Included hose is of poor quality. Not even the same quality as the Amflo 50' hose that you can buy separately. Reel will not lock reliably if pulling hose at an angle. Frame flexes when pulling hose at an angle, which prevents locking paw from engaging teeth. Paw rides at edge of locking mechanism, so position is not deep enough to engage teeth when pulling hose at an angle with frame flexing. Adding a washer should correct this, but it should not be necessary to modify a product to make it work right.
