Asked by: ROSE
Thank you for your question. The Andersen 2000 Series Self-Storing Storm Door has a retractable insect screen that disappears into the top of the door panel when not in use for anytime ventilation. The insect screen is attached to the upper ventilating window. The ventilating window can be moved up and down by using/releasing the window latches. The window latches also lock the window into a certain position. If you need additional information or assistance, please contact the Andersen Storm Door Solution Center at 855-337-8822 from 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST on weekdays and 9:00AM to 3:00PM CST during Saturdays and Sundays. - Noel

32 in. x 80 in. 2000 Series White Universal Self-Storing Aluminum Storm Door with Nickel Hardware is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Door I purchased this model after initially looking to by the EMCO 400 series door, which was a little cheaper. While looking at the doors, the Andersen 2000 seemed more durable and more visually appealing. This door was fairly easy to install (about 2 hours). If the door was less expensive, this door would have been a 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good enough for the in-laws too! A year ago we bought this door in the 36 in. for the front. My in-laws were visiting after I installed it. They were so impressed that they bought one for their new addition to their home. For my first door, it was easy to install and the directions were simple. Easy enough for one person to install, not too heavy and closes air tight. The roller screen is well hidden and there have been no problems with the screen or the tracks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea, poor design We were excited about the idea of the self storing screen and spent extra money on this door because we've heard great things about Andersen door products. From the start I was a little disappointed with the flimsiness of the screen because they way it is designed to roll out is just to have it loosely fit in the sides of the door frame without anything actually sealing it in there. Therefore, it takes only a very slight pressure of the finger or hand to push it out and allow bugs to get in. I was also concerned that smaller bugs may be able to just crawl in around the screen since there is no seal around it. I got over this though and gave it a try. The worst is yet to come. We use this door on our back porch, don't have any particularly extreme weather conditions or heavy use with kids banging into it or anything. This door has already had two defective parts that needed to be replaced. After about 2-3 months, the mechanism that winds the screen back up stopped working. I called Anderson and they sent me a new mechanism without much trouble, however I do resent the need to then spend over an hour of my time putting the the part in since it was basically a brand new door. Once replaced that part seems to be working okay. However, a few months later, STILL LESS THAN A YEAR OF OWNING THE DOOR, the frame of the top window started to come apart and the glass window literally slid down out of the frame. This can't even be covered by the screen because the screen is attached above the sliding window so it left a gaping hole for bugs, etc to come in. I just called Andersen again and they offered to ship me a new top window with instructions on how to replace it, but I am very concerned that a door that costs over $200 came apart this many times in the first year due to what appears to just be poor construction and I'm concerned about what will happen after I've owned the door for a year and it's no longer under warranty for part replacement. I would recommend going with a door, Andersen or otherwise, that doesn't have this type of construction as it seems they haven't perfected it yet and now there are just more parts to break.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 6 Years later = Garbage My father in law and I installed this door the 2000 series 6 years ago for our front door and now it's falling apart. The molding between the glass and the track is falling out with the glass is exposed now. The inside door lock is almost impossible to turn without pliers. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this door. I'm surprised Home Depot still offers this model for sale as the 2500 series has a new design. Totally disappointed in the quality of Anderson.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality Door I picked this door when door shopping because I was intriqued by the hide-away screen. The screen rolls up into the door header very neatly. Because the screen is at the top of the door the closer must be mounted at the bottom. It has never been in the way when entering or exiting. There is a level of skill required in assembly but all components easily fit tightly together. The white finish of the door is very durable and well protected for shipping and assembly. The nickel hardware looks great. Well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Storm Door I rarely take the time to write reviews as most of the time you get something average, which by all means necessary was what I was expecting even though they labeled this door as being high quality. High quality is an understatement. With the door shut, there is literally 0 air movement. opening our front door you can feel the air tight suction happening. we also have 2 dogs 2 cats and a 4yr old that love to bang on the storm door to go in/out this door is extremely sturdy. I was originally worried the dogs would rough it up a bit but it has held up like granite to water. the screen in door feature is great as well no more having to remember where you put the screen/glass.. while i would have liked to see both top and bottom vent (there is a model that does this) we didn't choose that model. I got the door installed, the guy installing it seemed to do fairly well, i think he had a harder time getting the old one off. very good product highly recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bought two, both screen recoil assemblies broke I bought two of these doors and the first screen failed to recoil after about a year. It was replaced under warranty. The second failed after about 18 months and cost be $38 to replace. The door looks nice but the plastic screen assembly is just cheap cheap cheap
