This was a very difficult door to install. The manufacturer leaves a lot of undone items. I've installed countless storm doors, but never an Anderson. The directions are clear, as long as you follow them, you'll be fine. Do not skip ahead, or make any assumptions. I really didn't enjoy having to drill the holes for the handset and lockset! Come to think of it, I drilled a lot of holes all over the place to install this door. The quality is above the average Larson or other type storm door. I think this door will last a long time, and it seems better built than other brands that I have installed. The hidden screen was the reason that this door was purchased. I know there are other brands with the same option. Lastly, this is not a door for the average DIY'er to install. You've gotta bring your "A" game to properly install this door. Installation by a professional would be advised. I'm a professional, and this was no cake walk.

The door looks fantastic! Especially love the feature of the self storing window. It's especially great that the screen is on the top so that the dog can't rip into it when he sees a squirrel or rabbit out front.
For the most part it was a very simple installation. Total time was between 2 and 3 hours, but that's because I'm meticulous about my work. The one part that was very difficult to attach is the slide covers that go over the furthest edge of the frame to hide the screws. They just won't snap in like they're supposed to. It doesn't take away from the function of the door so I'm ok with waiting until next spring when I can stand to be out on the porch for more than 2 hours to make sure they go in correctly.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SDNL Missing parts
We went to start installing the door when we realized there were not 1 but 2 parts missing from the box. I emailed and called customer service several times and 4 days later they tell me that my parts will be shipped the next day and to allow 10 days for shipping. 10 days!! This is terrible customer service. I should have been treated as priority since it was their mistake and the parts should have been overnighted. Needless to say the door was returned to Home Depot and we went elsewhere to buy a Larson. I will never be purchasing from Andersen again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JFW45 NEW ANDERSEN STORM DOOR PURCHASE
This has been one of my best investments ever. I live in a condo and this door opens into my kitchen, it has provided so much more light in there and I love being able to see outside now as well as who might be walking up to my door. My domestic partner installed it and had very few problems with the installation and if he had not had to do some alterations to my frame, it would have been installed in about a half of a day. I highly reccommend the Andersen products and Home Depot for all home improvements and repairs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bassaholic Great purchase
I purchased this door for a client. I have installed several doors in the past few years, this was by far the easiest product I have ever used. Instructions were easy to follow (yes I read the instructions), shims and guides made the process easy and quick. One review I read was negative due to a requirement to drill holes for the handle/lock mechanism, it took about 5 minutes to complete this step. With the exception of a 7/16 drill bit all other tools were included in the kit. The top screen is very functional and decreases torn screens from house pets. In short, I would highly recommend this storm door to anyone regardless of skill level. Anderson has done their homework in developing this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by aguita22 not for homes facing west
We had this door installed facing west and due to the heat buildup, it warped and doesn't close properly anymore. Home depot said it was not their fault and won't do anything. Still in contact with Anderson doors to see what they say. They should add a disclaimer that says it isn't intended for homes facing west.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SpringTilly Nice door but...
I like the look of the door as well as the self storing screen. My only issue is the door sweep. I honestly did not think there was even one down there as every time we open the main door, there are a bunch of bugs on the threshold that have crawled underneath the storm door. We purchased the storm door to keep insects out while enjoying a nice breeze and extra light but so far we have to be on the lookout for what is getting in the house.

Because I am almost 70 and not as strong as when I was younger, I decided to let Home Depot install the door for the nominal price. The installer brought the door to my home, which was great as I don't have a pick-up anymore. He and his helper worked quickly and installed the door in a professional manner. They cleaned up trimmings and cuttings with a shop vac and verified that all worked well with me before leaving the job site. Several days after the installation, the lock set would not lock from the outside. I called Home Depot, and within a few days, the installer returned and made the receiver hole deeper. Now we can lock the storm door from inside and outside the house. We will now be able to leave the main door open in mild weather and open the top glass on the storm door to allow fresh air to enter the house and feel secure.
