The door has two glass panels (top and bottom). The top panel slides up and down. When down, a screen mesh covers the upper portion of the door.

This came with a pink bag containing " Hinge/ Sweep Mounting Screws and Drill Bit." It also has 3 things that appear to be Velcro or maybe 2-sided tape (I didn't open the bag so not sure). I installed my door and it's working without issue. Drill bit aside, what is the other stuff for? Unless I'm missing something, they're not called for in the installation directions.

Answer:
The double sided tapes included in the door mounting kit is used for the hinge shim, only if applicable. It is only used if the door has a slight gap on the side and for the door to go plumb on jamb. If the door is completely installed and functions well, you may discard the other parts. - Hazel

Customer Reviews

36 in. x 80 in. 2500 Series White Universal Self-Storing Aluminum Storm Door with Nickel Hardware is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 353.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional door, Questionable Components The hiding screen is great. The door hardware wears quickly and needs adjustment more than this level of product should. The pictures are the parts for the door closer which failed just over a year of ownership. The warranty covered the part but I still had to pay a "Processing Fee" of $9.00 since it was more than a year old to have them ship me a replacement to this obviously defective part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excited about our screen door! The screen door looks great and we love the fact that with the push of a button, the top window slides down and reveals the screen so easily. We did have to have it installed, which cost us some more money, but we wanted the screen door so we wouldn't have the front door left open allowing bugs/flies to come in our house. With the screen, we can now get a nice breeze.

I bought 2 of these a year ago so I've had some time with them to be able to give a good review. 1. SUPER easy to install + 2.SUPER convenient to have the built in screen, a feature which was one of the main reasons I purchased, easy to use. + 3. I may have received one defective closer. It has never worked appropriately after the first adjusting. It will hold the door open as expected but when released it just slams, no amount of adjusting of the closer changes this. But it's only one of the two, so I'll replace it and hopefully be better off. Over all I would say these are good doors for the price, they're easy to clean and nice to have a screen on the top so it keeps dogs and small children from ripping it up. I would definitely recommend.

Please take my advice, decide which way you want the door to swing and spend the extra money to purchase the door that meets your need. This door requires assembling the hinges to the door and drilling large holes in the door on the side that will house the handle. The other doors also have an extra piece that covers the opening where the door meets the frame (handle side), which gives you an extra layer of weather stripping. This is not a bad door, I will probably remove it and put it on the back door which does not get as much use and purchase the left hand swing that comes without the handle but with the extra weather stripping.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great door with terrible installation method I have 20yrs of experience installing thousands of doors and windows. I've installed over 1000 storm doors from manufacturers such as Cole Sewel, Larson, SugarCreek and EMCO, to name a few. This door WAS one of my favorite doors till Anderson changed the installation system to what they call: "Easy Install". This system installs from the bottom up instead of the traditional top down approach. This design leaves 1/8" gaps between the top header weatherstripping and the side weatherstripping. Also, if your door frame is not square it will be challenging to not end up with a gap on the bottom. Finally, because this installs from the bottom up there will be a large gap at the top which is barely covered by an extra tall plate attached to the header with 2 screws. Often, if you follow the instructions, you will end up with a visible gap on top outside, and a large gap on the inside. The 3000 version of this door is available as a special order with the traditional (now called PRO) installation method so if you want a good, weather-tight installation you will need to pay extra and wait. What a shame...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought 2 I installed 2 of these with an inside swing at my condo in Florida (and mom's). Aside from the fact that Andersen customer service told me that none of their doors can be installed with an inside swing and they are wrong. A little common sense in reversing the hinges during the installation is all that was needed. The doors look great and although not the quality of my pella doors up north, it is a very good quality for the price. As other reviewers mention, unless the screen window is open a little or the front door is opened, it does not close by itself as it provides for a very air seal between the doors. Minor issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Storm Door. Ingenious design. The door is well built and looks good. The design where the upper part of the glass lowers to reveal a built-in screen is ingenious. No more need to replace an entire pane of glass for a screen. The door itself works very well - just as well as any other storm door I've had. I like the feature of having the mechanism at the bottom of the door where you can keep the door opened with the touch of your foot.
