The door must be installed to operated the window. Gravity helps to operate the screen. I tried testing it laying down before installing and it is tough to open.

Is the screen attached to the glass as you pull it down or do you lower the glass and then pull down the screen?

Are the glass panels removable to have a full screen?
Asked by: Fran23
The screen is on a roller in the top. Once you release the clasp at the top you pull down to reveal the screen while the top glass slides to the lower glass. You can leave any amount of the top half with screen, you don't have to pull it all the way down.

So far no issues with it. Seems to glide smooth. The toe touch door stop works well. I use it twice a day. The install took him a little extra time. Almost 4 hours. We had to have him come back out three months to the day for repairs. The bottom hinge popped into the door frame. No real circumstances for the hinge to bend and pop into it after three months. No excessive wind. No kids hanging on the door. No slamming. Its winter and there is nothing blocking the door. Just open, push button, and let the dogs out. Open, push the toe button, and let the dogs in. Twice a day for three months. Then the hinge pops, bends the frame, and hinge bracket. Something is not right. We had to pay the contractor to come out to hammer the frame flat, pop the hinge back out, and reinstall screws.

The latches that slide the window up and down on the right side broke on both doors within 7 years of purchase. I consider it a flaw in the engineering. Anderson claims it as normal wear and tear and refused to honor the lifetime warranty. So the lifetime is 7 years ? I purchased Anderson because I thought they actually had a lifetime warranty. I won't be fooled by them again. I now have to replace both doors, and they won't be made by Anderson.

Anderson cut corners at the installers expense .

Good looking door but retractable screen came off tracks after first summer. Got a repair kit no charge under warranty. Replacing it was a nightmare for 2 profesional contractors. After a second summer it came off tracks yet again. I am not going to pay again to have it replaced for a second time. I am getting a new door, different brand.
