This is a beautiful door which has already demonstrated its usefulness by reducing drafts and adding to curb appeal. We are very pleased with the overall look and ease of use. We love it!
My one complaint is that it is by no means "easy" to install. The product literature says that it can be installed in 45 minutes or less. Nonsense. It took two professionals two hours to install it. If my husband and/or I (amateurs) had attempted installation, I have no doubt it would have taken at least 5-6 hours to install (which is consistent with what I had read elsewhere online). It may be easy to install compared to other doors, but the title is deceptive given the product's own claims.

It was my mistake but the default order is left hand and the picture shows right hand. I ordered the wrong door.

Excellent storm door... very easy to install.. would have gone with the 4000 series had I known that this one was a little more work to switch out the glass for the screen... still a great storm door though.. Definitely recommended.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by J592 "Looks like it's always been there"
This is a very fine door and really is very easy to install. It looks great, has a well designed handle and lock, and closes properly every time. After repeatedly reading and rereading the instructions, it took about 90 minutes to complete the installation. My neighbor--who knows I'm not an all-pro handiman-- viewed the finished door and said, "Wow, it looks like it's always been there."
Although the instructions repeatedly emphasize not to try to install the door if the "mount" area is too narrow, use your own judgment on that. Our door had a mount area much narrower than recommended, but it went in just fine, and is very secure. I wasted money on the "narrow mount kit" that turned out not to fit, even though they should have known that I had an 84 inch, not 81 inch door.
The only weak part of the door design is the system holding in the detachable screen or glass. It works, but takes some finesse when removing and installing each piece. You have to be careful not to bend the detachable strips the wrong way, or you can ruin them.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Charlotte I hate the product-DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!
We bought the series 3000 from Home Depot and made a very serious mistake going with the less expensive version w/ the plastic retainers that are used to hold the screen/storms in.
The retainers are very hard and complex to put in. They are cheap, too, and break easily. Also, the quality of the screen door is way below Andersen's standards. I complained to the Home Dept person in the Watertown, MA store about this problem and she said that "everyone complains about this door and we no longer recommends it,."
Instead of simply keeping what was an easy way to remove the screen or storms doors, the company though that it made the look "sleeker" by having these stupid and cheap retainers put in. The plastic retainers need to snap in ans finding the angle, grid and using the right pressure needed is very hard to do. Also, the whole thing looks cheap. DO NOT BUY.

I wrote a review in early March 2015 of the Anderson 3000 door after spending several hours installing it. I complained about the handle snagging on the latch rail. On the next day, Monday, I called customer support. They explained to me how to take the handle off and install it correctly. After installing it again, it does not snag on the latch rail. It is a good-looking door. The accompanying literature says that it takes 45 minutes to install. Perhaps if you install these doors for a living, that is true. It took several hours for me to install it.

We did a lot of shopping for a storm door for our 1934 stone cottage. Finding an oversize door (84x36) turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. Common 80 inch doors were everywhere and we were repeatedly told that ours would be a custom order at extra cost that would take weeks to arrive. We were about to settle on a $700(!) item from Lowes when I discovered this great door at Home Depot for less than half that price. It arrived in less than a week and I installed it by myself in less than two hours. In Northeast Tennessee, winter temps can settle down to zero overnight and I have no doubt that our Andersen storm door will be up to task in keeping our north facing entry snug and tight in inclement weather. Thank you Home Depot and Andersen!
