How can a fit the 36 x 80 storm door 3000 series into a 35 x 80 1/2 rough opening

Asked by: frank
Thank you for your inquiry. The opening width range for a 36 in. x 80 in. door is 35-7/8 in. to 36-3/8 in., the rough opening width you have is small. You will have to modify your brick mold and make it 7/8 in. bigger, to accommodate the minimum requirement. This door model is being offered in custom size and you also have the option of ordering this based on the rough opening you have. Should you have other questions, please feel free to contact the Andersen Solution Center at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during Saturdays and Sundays.-Roselle

what kind of hinge

I have searched specifications, but do not see what kind, and how many, hinges are used. I have presently a storm door with a piano hinge, and it has worn, so the door has dropped. I presume that more hinges would be more durable. so....how many, and what types of hinges? Thank you in advance....
Asked by: homeowner
Thank you for posting your concern. The Andersen 3000 Series Full View Storm Door is a quad hinge type of door, though for the replacement piano hinge, please contact the Andersen Solution Center with the serial number of your door ready at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during weekends. - Joyce

Glass on my series 3000 storm door was scratched..can glass be replaced or repaired?

Asked by: Eileen
We are sorry to know that the glass of your Andersen 3000 Series Full View Easy Install Storm Door was scratched. Depending on how deep the scratch is, it can either be cleaned or replaced. You may try cleaning the glass first if it would to the job. We recommend cleaning the glass with a mild, non-abrasive, general purpose household glass cleaner, such as Windex® cleaner or similar using a soft, clean cloth, paper towel or newspaper. Please remember; DO NOT use abrasive glass cleaners, as they may damage the glass, NEVER clean glass in direct sunlight and NEVER use metal razor blades on the glass surface. If cleaning the glass did not resolve the issue, you may call the Andersen Storm Doors Solution Center at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during weekends to place an order for the replacement. – Julie

36 in. x 80 in. 3000 Series White Left-Hand Fullview Easy Install Aluminum Storm Door with Nickel Hardware is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm sure this door would be nice... If it would open correctly! Two hours later and it's still not in correctly. The door handle only goes on one way and when the door is being opened up, the handle gets in the way preventing the door to be opened seemlessly and without effort. Haven't even attempted the hydraulic opening mechanism. Not sure my mental health can take it today.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Install - I agree! The installation took longer than 45 minutes - around 3 hours for me. But I took my time, read the instructions carefully and took a couple of breaks. The door fit perfectly. Others have noted dissatisfaction with changing the glass to screen - and I can see that it would be a bit of a pain to do that. I plan to leave the glass in year-round. I'm very pleased with the end result! The door looks great, is reasonably sturdy and the instructions were excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Storm door. I bought one for the front door about 2 years ago. I have an old house so I had to add a 2x4 at the top to drop the entry way to 80 inches. It worked well so I bought a second one this fall for the second floor porch. The second one fitted without modifying the entry way. Takes about an hour to install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful door, NOT easy to install This is a beautiful door which has already demonstrated its usefulness by reducing drafts and adding to curb appeal. We are very pleased with the overall look and ease of use. We love it! My one complaint is that it is by no means "easy" to install. The product literature says that it can be installed in 45 minutes or less. Nonsense. It took two professionals two hours to install it. If my husband and/or I (amateurs) had attempted installation, I have no doubt it would have taken at least 5-6 hours to install (which is consistent with what I had read elsewhere online). It may be easy to install compared to other doors, but the title is deceptive given the product's own claims.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent door and easy to install Door was easy to install even for one person. It looks great and fit easily into the standard existing door opening on my just built new home. Suggest you go on line and review installation videos before installing if a DIY install. Helped me to get familiar with just how easy it was.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap parts that do not fit, deceptive instructions Where to start? We bought this door intending to install it ourselves since it is so "easy". Perhaps it would have been, if the parts had coordinated with the instructions and the holes were large enough for the pins and screws. I can install and put together most RTA items, even gas grills with hundreds of parts. About the instructions: it tells you to remove the screen but doesn't mention the heavy glass pane. I removed it anyway because 1: heavy and 2: fragile. Good thing too, since after I screwed the door into place and was supposed to "open the door by grasping the edge" there would have been no way to grab it, and it was firmly and completely stuck. I tried a hammer and 2x4: no luck. We finally did get it open with a lot of horsing on it and broke off the corners of the clip inside the door edge only to find that the plastic handle clip had been riveted into place with plastic rivets (not on instructions OR illustrations) and there was no way anyone could have simply opened the door with that clip wedging it shut. If I had left the glass in, it would surely have broken. The #12 screws that are supposed to hold the door closer clip to the door: there is no way ever that they will screw into the small holes drilled into the door. Likewise the short pins to hold the door closer to the door bracket: way too large for the holes in the bracket OR the door closer. The long pins for the door side went in easily, no problem at all. It is now sunset and I am stopping for the day. Who knows what fresh challenges await tomorrow? I suspect that the screw covers will be impossible to install; I skipped that part because they didn't seem to fit and I was tired of fiddling with the thing.
