Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Messed up order. My husband and I saw these doors and fell in love with them. We waited more than two weeks for our doors to be delivered to us. When the doors finally arrived, our contractor realized that one of the doors were doubled insulated and the other was just a single pane glass door. We decided to use them anyways because we were told by the customer rep, that we would have to wait another two weeks for the right doubled insulated door. Very Stressful on our end. Lesson learned, inspect YOUR MERCHANDISE before leaving the STORE. All and all the insulated door is and amazing. Very easy to install once you know what you are doing/reading. April 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by andersen emco doors customer support the door is ok until you have to rescreen it. Customer support is in the Philippines with poor english speaking skills.. The flat plastic spline/retainer is impossible to remove without destroying it and the replacement is very difficult to reinstall . The round spline was far superior. Conclusion you will have to replace the whole screen panel at $100+ every time you rescreen. The Andersen Window division has great CS to bad they attach their name to EMCO, last EMCO for me. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So worth it Might pay to have this door installed. The directions are not very precise on some steps and the drawing aren't very helpful. The product is excellent though. The double pane window weighs about 75 pounds so it is not going in and coming out very often. Easily unlatched for removal. My dog loves the full panel so he can watch what's going on outside. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Storm door Great door.Easy to install if handy.Took about 4 hrs. December 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy with this door My wife and I purchased this door in almond with oil rubbed bronze for our house and I installed it over the weekend. Total install time including unpacking, installation and taking a couple of short breaks was 5 hours. If I were less cautious or doing it for a second time, I could probably do it in 3 hours. The instructions that come with the door are not that great, but there is a video online put out by Andersen that helped tremendously. The only problem I had was with the strike plate that attaches to the door jamb. Andersen gives you 4 small machine screws that you are supposed to pre-drill a hole for and then thread them in. This was an incredibly difficult task and a poor decision in my opinion. The screws should have been self-tapping. Because of the difficulty I had getting them threaded, the heads of the screws are a bit mangled and will need some sort of touch up paint. Overall the door feels solid and well built. For the price it goes for... it had better. As with all well-sealed storm doors getting it to latch with the glass installed and the front door closed is tough. The build up of air pressure is just too much. Not a huge deal as the door closes and just needs to be tapped to get it to latch. July 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent instructions; good seals; insulating glass This storm door was the only one I was able to find that featured two layers of glass. None of the offered storm doors specified an r-value, so it is difficult to say how much improvement in insulating value this brought, but I felt that single glass doors would not be likely to reduce energy consumption, which was my goal. The best features of this product were the instructions (among the best I have seen; separate illustrations for left and right swing installations, detailed drawings, etc.), the seals (double seals used throughout, with an extra cap that goes around the latch edge), and the insulating glass. The pistons also seem to be first rate, though my experience with pistons is that poor ones fail over time, so I don't yet know how these will fare. The procedure for seasonally swapping out the glass (for screening) is exceptionally easy and clever (no more fiddling with thumb screws while you're holding the heavy glass in one hand). The overall appearance is very clean and elegant. As long as white is okay, this door will go with almost any decorating theme. Because the glass is a "full lite", this door is largely invisible in winter and the whole doorway opening can be used for insect-free ventilation in the summer. Pay attention to the specifications given in the instruction manual. Although standard width at top and bottom, my opening was just a smidgeon narrow (about 3/32") in the middle, which turned out to create significant installation challenges. The manual includes an 800 number for installation consultation; the technical support was immediate and authoritative. Note also that the double glass is remarkably heavy; I encountered some sagging of the door as a result of an insufficiently rigid doorway frame (in a brand new house). The 3/4" OSB doorway frame was not able to hold that much weight without flexing. The only other challenge I encountered with this door was that it was delivered by tractor trailer, which could not get to our house. Overall, however, this is a really superior door, which does an excellent job keeping wind and snow (but not sunshine) off of our main door in the winter, allows maximal breeze to ventilate our house in the summer, operates easily and reliably at all times, and looks smart. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, Durable Door with Simple Installation This door is heavy, stylish, and durable. The model down is $100 less and totally not worth it, especially when it comes to changing from glass to screen. I upgraded to the Anderson 4000 and spent an extra $20 to get the insulated glass, and that $20 upgrade is a STEAL. As for the install, I'm not the handiest person on the planet. To give you an idea, I make my living in healthcare administration, not in the trades. I was able to do this install in about 4 hours in total. I've put together many things that come with instruction booklets. This best part of this instruction booklet is that it tells you what you will accomplish in each step and has pictures to guide you through exactly how each piece should line up. The only flaw that I noticed was that the sizes of drill bits that it called for weren't always exactly right on, and I sometimes needed a bigger bit than what the instructions called for. If you know your way around a drill, you already know to check the bit against the screw that will fill the hole to make sure you're using the right size. I would totally recommend this door to anyone. I had my reservations about buying a product like this from a HD or a Lowe's versus going to a specialty store. The quality is top notch, and when pricing this door ($319) versus some of the specialty stores ($600+, $700+, even $1100+!!), I am very satisfied with the product. May 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE LOVE LOVE Ok, I really can't say whether or not the installation was easy because I had a Home Depot contractor install it. He made it look super easy and I had it installed when Home Depot was running a "special" on installs. What I really LOVE is the ease to change the screen in and out and change it with the storm door. I read a couple other reviews, prior to my purchase, that made me leerie but I still did it! I have no regrets. I changed out the screen just a couple weeks ago and it took a matter of minutes. So simple. You will not regret paying a couple extra dollars for the ease of changing the screen/storm window in and out! It's a beauty too! November 4, 2014
