I need to protect my wood entry door from the sun. It is located on the southern side of my home and no shade. Which

Anderson door offers the best protection from the sun and why?
Asked by: Atlsun
Thank you for your interest on our Andersen 4000 Series Full View Storm Doors. We apologize but our Storm Doors are not designed to protect the main entry door from UV rays and heat from the outside. These doors are made as added protection for inclement weather and can enhance the beauty of the main entry door. Customers can have the glass tinted as their option however this voids the warranty of the glass itself. If you have further questions, please contact the Andersen Solution Center at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during Saturdays and Sundays. - Trisha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terriffic Door I've wanted an Andersen Storm door with every home i've lived in, and finally got one when i moved into my new Townhome. I luve in northern California, and we dont get many storms here, if any at all, but it sure gets hot! I ordered the door with low e dual pane gass filled glass so i could leave my woid door ooen all summef and winter. Heat nor coldvwill get padt this door. I really enjoy letting the light in to fill the room with batural light. The door is a heavyweight aluminum with reinforced corners so it doesn't wobble and the two clousers maje it open with ease! I love this door!

I purchased an Andersen Model 4000 full view insulated storm door earlier this spring and when I completed the installation, the door sagged on the latch side by over 1/4". This is enough opening that rain runs down between the door and the frame and will freeze in winter. It also allowed some of the assembly screws at the top of the latch side of the door to rub on the frame when the door was opened. When I called the number to see how to correct this or what I had done wrong, I was never able to speak with someone who knew anything about this model of door. There are multiple phone numbers but they always brought me to the same customer service people. I was offered suggestions that applied only to earlier models of the door but never got any technical answers about this door. The sales people claimed that Andersen offers great service, but I certainly did not see it. I would not recommend purchasing this door for these reasons.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Screen Bought the 4000 because it was supposed to be easier to change from glass to the screen. It is a full view glass but the screen has a bar in the middle. Looks cheap. Have window in the interior door and you can see the bar obscuring it. Also have the 3000 which has the full glass and full screen with no bar. Looks much better. Called Andersen . No help.

I miscut one piece during install. I called Andersen and they sent new piece out right away with no charge, and no shipping cost. I told them I misread instructions, I expected to pay for the part. They said no worries, and sent it free of charge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great door Love the ease of switching between screen & storm. Only gave four stars because they no longer provide the bottom adjustment piece. I had to add a header in order to make it fit. Love the quality & the ability to lock the door for added security. The adjustable closing mechanism is very useful.

The door itself seems fine but the hardware is of astoundingly POOR quality. Brand new, not installed an hour yet and the handle on the door flops around like it's about to fall off. It's not just a little play, the handle rocks more than 1/4 inch on pull or push before making contact and applying force to open the door. Not only that, the lock knob spins 3 complete revolutions to engage the bolt and 3 more to disengage it. You stand there twirling the knob for a while before the bolt moves. At first I thought it was broken. The display unit in the store didn't have any of these issues. The handle was firmly affixed to the door and 1/2 a turn in either direction engaged/disengaged the lock. The handle is critical as that is how you release the window/screen to change it. You would expect it to be well built. The Anderson name ... $450+ for install and disposal and I got garbage. Couldn't be less happy. I may go to Home Depot this afternoon and insist the come remove the new door and refund my $. It's that bad.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product with some unusual defects I first put this door in six months ago . I was very satisfied with the appearance and the ease of installation . Had multiple compliments from neighbors. The reason for the three star quality is that when the rain started this fall the material in the door swelled and the door no longer fits inn the frame as it did when I put it in. I thought the frame I fitted it in had swelled causing the problem , but found I have an eighth inch clearance between door frame and house frame so the only difference has to be in the door it self.It has expanded so that all the screws on the latch side are catching on the fram and not allowing it to close properly.
