Customer Questions & Answers

does this include the whole lock and keys my key just spins and does not lock any more?

Asked by: christian
Yes, it includes the whole lock and keys. Get used to replacing the lock, because this model apparently breaks often.

what lock set most easily replaces broken tribeca?

I have replaced this crummy lock three times already and it has broken again. I could replace the internal parts with a key kit but I hate this lock. I could have purchased the most expensive set in the marketplace the first time around and still come out ahead given that I have replaced the cylinder and inside lock lever three times already. any recommendations for the cash strapped?
Asked by: sierrapalms
The lock has a 10 year manufacturing warranty, so if it is failing due to a manufacturing issue we would send replacement parts at no charge. However given that the lock has broken three times my concern is that something may not be aligning properly thus causing the lock to break. Please call our Customer Contact Center at 888-888-7020 so that we may gather some additional information to help resolve this issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lock broke I only wish I had read the reviews before I bought this. It seems the lock issue has not been fixed with this set. Unfortunately to replace the broken lock I have to buy the whole set over again. It's still cheaper then some of the other handles, but if it's going to break again whats the point. Wish I had bit the bullet and spent the little extra and got a more reliable handle/lock. I would not recommend this handle to anyone. If you are looking to buy and you're still reading this...don't walk... run away from this product!! Find another handle! If you're like me and have already purchased this and are still reading this... I feel your pain. :(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Includes new/updated internal lock mechanism Like other reviewers, I went to lock my door one night and the lever broke off in my hand. I discovered that you can order just the lever from Andersen (part# 2573609 from parts dot andersenwindows dot com) for under ten bucks, but it can take two weeks to arrive. Even calling and adding $40 to expedite will only make it a day or two faster as it still ships UPS ground. And had I ordered and waited, I would not have realized that the internal latch mechanism has been updated and should also be replaced. That said, it might be worth ordering an extra lock handle from Andersen to have on hand for the next breakage, since clearly a big part of the cost of this Home Depot package is the two heavy door pull handles (inside and out) which most people probably don't need to replace. Home Depot's web site said this kit was available at my local store, but nobody could find it. I finally found it on a shelf that was somewhat hidden behind a sample Andersen sliding glass door; perhaps that will help someone (rather than going there and then leaving on the assumption they don't actually have it). I'm glad I found it, as replacing the entire lock/latch mechanism appears to have made our door much easier to lock now. I recommend the kit, as it works out to about the same cost as ordering JUST the broken handle (expedited) from Andersen. I just hope this one lasts another 10-12 years before it breaks again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Lock The lock on this door broke very quickly and you have to buy the entire set just to replace the lock. The metal is very week and twisted and broke very easily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Andersen Door lock This lock is very poorly designed and weak. I have replaced the lock twice and now have to buy another one. The metal used in the lock is so weak it eventually will twist and bend then break off. The handle is fine and has no problems. Why do you have to buy the entire set when the lock is the problem? Andersen needs to work on this poor engineering!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made I just had the second of these latches break in the last 2 years. I contacted Andersen thru the live chat on their website to see if I could just buy the latch locally instead of having to either buy the whole set, or ordering the latch off their website, and the answer was no. They said the new latch should arrive within 14 days, and recommended using a screwdrive to lock the door until then. I mentioned how convenient that would be to let the dogs out every day, and the response was this door was not meant to be an entry door. I know she meant that this door was suppose to be a patio door, but how many walkout ramblers have a sliding 'patio door' to the backyard? 99%? I wasn't aware certain kinds of doors weren't really doors. I broke down and ordered another latch off the website, and it says most items ship in 2-9 business days. That seems worse than the 4 hour window the cable guy gives you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor design and quality This is the second lock set that has broke. The locking mechanism is of poor quality and design. It looks great, but doesn't operate as well as it looks. It is very difficult to unlock from both sides and is made of poor quality workmanship. I would stay away from this lock set!
