Answer:
Thank you for posting your question. The push button closer should be installed at the bottom part of the door. Depending on the model of your door, it may have one or two closers. The closers must be installed on the location as indicated in the door installation manual. - Noel

Answer:
Yes, there are steps you can take to correct this. We recommend that you remove the push button closure from the door by pulling out the pins on each end. Then remove the adjustment screw from the end of the closer. Once that is done, while holding on to the closure cylinder firmly with one hand, insert a screw driver into the hole in the end of the rod and pull the rod back as far as you can and pause Read More
Yes, there are steps you can take to correct this. We recommend that you remove the push button closure from the door by pulling out the pins on each end. Then remove the adjustment screw from the end of the closer. Once that is done, while holding on to the closure cylinder firmly with one hand, insert a screw driver into the hole in the end of the rod and pull the rod back as far as you can and pause for a moment before releasing. If you pull the rod back to quickly, you will not give the rod locking mechanism enough time release and it may stay in the locked position.
When the push button is depressed on the closure the door will automatically lock into the position it is opened too. Under normal operation, you need to make sure that the push button was not accidentally push in.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Storm door closer The only problem I had was I needed the sand color but black worked just as well. No one noticed the difference August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Door closure It was an older model and difficult to find. Home Depot worker researched and found it. He was great March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick Fix! LOL! Once I read the directions, installation became easy! It appeared to be the same brand as the one on my door that had broken. It was much cheaper than a new door! And so easy to adjust. It is nice to not have the slamming door anymore! I love having items shipped to the store and avoiding the freight charge! August 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Working well- original had locked up after about 8 years of use The product arrived when it was expected to. Ordered online- went well overall. January 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality. The original hardware on my ($600) storm door broke and I ordered this hardware as a replacement. This product is the second one I have ordered and both have been defective. I will try for a third time, as I have no alternative. I hope that the third order is the charm. May 22, 2012
