Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DoorMan Solid, if noisy, replacement for Anderson
I used this kit to replace original equipment that came with an Anderson full-view storm door (a heavy, all-glass door). Items arrived quickly, appeared to be of good quality and installed easily in place of the original gear. Everything works fine-- the door opens and closes properly and after slight adjustment, slams adequately to engage the latch.
My only criticism is that these pistons are far noisier than the units they replaced. There's some hissing, of course, as air rushes in and out of the pistons. But there's also a groaning noise when opening and closing the door. Applying some lithium grease to the rod helped a little, but there's still a groaning noise that wasn't present in the original equipment. I am hoping that it fades over time.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Horrible Closer that Home Depot Should Cease Carrying.
Rarely do I write a negative review. Don't waste your money on this closer. Bought an Anderson replacement storm door closer. Out of the box, it did not work. Had to call Customer Service of the supplier twice to get a replacement. Received another closer. Same problem - out of the box it did not work. The button was stuck in the down position and the rod would not budge. (As part of normal function, the rod must go in and out of the body of the closer.) I gave up. I no longer have any closer on the storm door. Looking at the other comments, these Andersen replacement closers tend to be defective which indicates poor construction. Home Depot should stop carrying them and also stop carrying the Andersen storm doors. Parts wear out and customers should be able to get working replacement parts.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tippy1 Made of metal, not plastic.
Thought it just a little pricey but metal construction far better then brittle plastic in below zero temps.
The original closers were bent from a gust of wind when the door latch slipped. The adjustment process with top and bottom closers is awkward but I can't think of another way to do it. The install instructions need to highlight more strongly the need to pull out the bottom unit piston 1/4 inch to allow full closure. The units were a identical replacement for my emco/anderson 3000 series storm door with two sliding glass windows and full screen.

This is our 3 closer. The first lasted 2-3 years. It wouldn't keep the door closed and eventually the hinges became mangled by the wind jerking it open. The second one we received in July and the first time we used the button, the rod stayed in the extended position and we couldn't close the door unless we removed it. The third came today . When I opened the box the button is stuck down and the rod is in the retracted position. All this pulling has caused the frame of my door to become loose.
I hate to think we are going to need a new door!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Downkiwi This is the worst system for a closer kit. I have resorted to removing it and securing the door open with a line. Bring back the old system!
This is the worst door closer system. It consistently remains stuck in the open position and does not release as the instructions indicated. It has been replaced 2x so far. I have resorted to removing it and using a line to keep the door open. Thankfully there is a tree near by.
