There are rubber, like tire rubber. They are made just like the large mats you would use at your front or back door. Very nice product.

I JUST PUT THEM DOWN ON THE STEP AND THAT WAS IT. THEY SEEM TO STAY PUT. IF THEY MOVE AFTER MORE WEAR I WILL JUST PUT A SCREW ON EACH END AS ANOTHER CUSTOMER SUGGESTED. SO FAR, THEY DON'T NEED ANYTHING TO STAY IN PLACE.

This product is of a heavy material which adds to its own 'set' in place abilities - however - for added security screws worked fine for us [ on our wooden patio steps ].

I use them indoors, and they have holes so sweeping the stairs is a lot more difficult now. They mostly stay in place but are easily removed for sweeping.

They aren't solid - they have holes in them, but they look very nice. But cleaning is a breeze. Just take them off of the steps and sweep. They're heavy enough that they don't need to be secured.

Yes the mat can be cut. Use a sharp utility knife and straight edge. Use the straight edge as a guide for the cut. Firmly cut along the edge several times until the cut is completed. Always use protection and caution when making cuts.

I would think so - although we did not need to ... you'd just need something to cut the rubber as it is not thin nor light in weight - which is a very nice feature of this product. We live on the coast and the strong winds don't move them at all!

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 126 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best value on the market The stair mats are excellent quality, sturdy, totally functional and what's more they look really nice, I researched this online and in my opinion they are the best value on the market. May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice option and very good price. But a few issues The pricing for these stair treads is very fair. It is because of the low pricing that I have rated them 4 stars instead only 3. If the price was higher, the issues they have would have made them just an average purchase in my opinion. They are thick, and the design is attractive. A few issues that I personally have had with them is first, when they are cut to shape at the factory, they are not done so in a consistent and even fashion. Some are cut in such a way that the imperfection is very noticeable. One of the five purchased had a whitish discoloration to it and stands out a slight bit from the rest. Though the design itself is attractive, it is for these reasons that I rated them as only being average in appearance. Another issue, they shed sand like particles in abundance. Over time, if used on a painted tread, that material might do harm to the surface. Finally, though heavy, again, on painted surfaces they tend to slip around pretty easily. All in all, they are attractive, fairly price and heavy duty, but they do have some shortcomings. June 7, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by not totally happy I loved everything about these treads at first. But they crumble. There was a lot of debris in the boxes and I chalked that up to shipping. but it is all over my deck and steps and if I run quick in bare feet, it sticks to the bottom of my feet.. So I am not sure if this excess will wear off. or this is what I have to deal with. I even hosed them off to remove more loose debris. but they arei still crumbling May 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Satisfied We are using these in the stairways of an apartment building, the only problem is sweeping out the voids, have to use a shop vac. The only problem is we bought all that Home Depot had in stock and on line. April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome for my aging Shepherd This was an excellent solution for some slippery wooden steps in the back of the house I am renting - my Shepherd could not climb the stairs if they were the slightest bit damp as they became slippery - brought them in Nov laid them down before the first snow and they have been a God send!! Not one single issue with snow or rain any longer - they dont slip or move at all!! I would highly recommend this product to anyone with slippery steps!! March 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT TREADS I LOVE THESE TREADS! THEY LOOK SO GREAT AND I JUST PUT THEM ON THE STEPS, IT WAS THAT EASY. THEY DO NOT MOVE AT ALL. I USED THESE FOR THE FRONT STEPS COMING UP TO THE FRONT PORCH. I PUT IN WOOD STEPS AND PAINTED THEM AND NEEDED SOMETHING TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM SLIPPING WHEN THEY GET WET. THESE ARE PERFECT. THEY LOOK RICH AND I LOVE THEM!!! I AM INCLUDING 3 PHOTOS. ONE IS A CLOSE UP AND YOU CAN SEE HOW GREAT THEY LOOK. AT THE BOTTOM, I HAVE THE LARGER MATCHING MAT. May 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outdoor stair treads were a perfect fit. The treads are cut to fit outdoor stairs, and have excellent traction, both in the material and the pattern. I bought them for a senior dog, and his confidence is notably higher using the treads. I ran a 1x4 stringer, and installed Hampton Bay Solar Step Lights over the treads for added safety and confidence after dark. August 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by decent for indoor use on wooden stairs I bought these because they fit my stair treads almost perfectly and they appeared to be the heaviest/thickest. Only reason I'm putting outdoor treads indoors, is because jibronies in my house where boots/dress shoes and friggin tap-dance up/down the stairs at 3AM or 6AM, waking everyone else up. Since I've installed these, the sound has been muffled a little bit...maybe 30% or more. They're cheap, so I don't mind the expense. They mostly stay in place, but I have to kick one or two back into place everyday. March 18, 2016
