Almost all residential hoses are either 1/2" or 5/8" inside diameter. Most plumbing parts are measured by their inside diameter (I.D.) because that's the information engineers need to calculate flow rates, pressures, etc..
Fortunately, when it comes to hoses, the end pieces that allow you to connect to your house, or another hose, or a manifold (device to split one hose into two or more hoses) use universal male and female thread designs. The threads per inch are often referred to as a plumber's thread or pipe fitter's thread. Just to look at the pieces, it's easy to confuse pipe fitter's threads with machinist's threads. You can even get the two to join, but it doesn't fit "just right" and when you turn on the water, it will leak.
Before buying a second hose, try to measure the I.D. of the hose you have now. If it's 1/2" I.D., then get another hose that's also 1/2". Similarly for a 5/8" I. D. hose, but if your need is temporary, and maybe your neighbor will loan you his hose, go ahead and use it regardless of comparability. You'll still get water out the business end.

Considering the length, it is pretty good, but it does kink. You have to pay attention when you are stretching it out and also turn it when it needs it. If you just pull, I think it will kink.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 100 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Water hose An emergency buy - I was looking for a fairly lightweight hose, since it was going to be linked to 2 more 50' hoses, to replace one that developed a hole when attached to a pressure washer. I could have got a similar one for less at another store, but I was at Home Depot, this works. It's inexpensive and has a warranty, so I'm keeping my receipt and paperwork. October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall hose. nothing you want to drag around all day long. Like most hoses, it can kink and twist fairly easily and prevent water flow. Works well otherwise like much more expensive hoses. October 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just the right rigidness Have bought several before, this one is a Goldilocks for common use of a gardening hose. Not too rigid but rigid enough to last. October 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not made well Purchased these hoses as medium duty but the quality is more like very light weight duty. Returned all four. Disappointed with this product. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by not bad for the price and hold up fairly well October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gets the job done I was done with the flex hoses that break within a year of purchase so went back to this traditional type. It works very well, stows easily for it is not as rigid as they used to be. August 30, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Softer more manageable I had purchased a commercial grade hose for my new garden hose reel and found it much too stiff to manovers around the backyard obstacles. I couldn't find any other hoses that were medium weight so I looked on line and found this one. I had found the 50' commercial hose was not long enough, so I left the commercial hose on the reel and connected the new one to it giving me the extra length and flexibility. Works just right. August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the price Needed a hose that could stand up for a couple of years and light weight. these may be my answer. August 16, 2016
