Product Overview

Aqua-Strip is a technically advanced, safer marine stripper designed to remove up to 10 layers of thick marine anti-fouling, top-side and other paints and varnishes in one application. Aqua-Strip stays wet for extended periods of time to penetrate and lift bottom layers. Aqua-Strip will not damage the gel coat, fiberglass or other surfaces. It is environmentally safe, biodegradable, and non-flammable, and contains no methylene chloride or caustic. Aqua-Strip is odor-free and can be easily cleaned up with water. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NOT AS ADVERTISED The selling point for this product was that it would remove several layers of bottom paint with one application. On 3 layers of bottom paint it has barely gotten through the 1st layer. In order to get through 3 layers on a small portion of the hull, it took 5 applications with scraping in between applications. I am going to try another product and would like my money back. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Aqua Strip Remover Used it to strip 3 layers of bottom paint off a 15-foot Boston Whaler. Took 2 gallons. Outstanding results! Took off all the paint, just let it sit and let the chemicals do the work. Gel coat shine was left in tact. April 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome stuff Works as promised. Had several layers of old bottom paint on a fiberglass boat. Put it on thick with a roller, misted it to keep it wet since it was almost 100 degrees out. Waited about 4 hours. Scraped it off with a plastic scraper. Took all but a thin base coat off. Wetsanded with 1000 grit paper and buffed. Looks like new figerglass. September 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stripper I bought an old with really bad paint on the bottom. Like the side of a stucco house and falling off in spots. Aquastrip did the job pretty well but it takes a long time. Hours. Depending on the weather you may need to leave it on overnight. I tried Captain Lee's fiberglass stripper but it seems to raise the gelcoat where it comes in contact with it. I also tried regular methylene chloride.., Both work faster than aquastrip but not really any better. They are also much messier to work with. You have to order it by the gallon online from Home Depot and they have the best price. Delivery usually takes two to three days, not the 6-10 days they quote you. I ordered three times with same delivery results. June 26, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NOT ALL ITS CRACKED UP TO BE Bought some online as HD had the best price. Had also purchased 1 gallon from west marine. Same exact product. In all cases the gallon size was like a big glob of jello. Unable to brush on easily. I had to place a glob on a brush with my hand and then spread it out. It spread pretty easily. Waited about 2 hours and then started scraping. It didn't go all the way down to the gel coat but only took off one layer of anti fouling paint. I probably have five to seven layers of heavy old paint on my hull. It would only take off the top layer. Lots of scraping required. It will take another 2-3 gallons to finish the job and many many hours. Probably more cost efficient to get the hull soda blasted by a pro right from the get go. July 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It didn't do the job as well as expected. The product was asked to remove multiple applications of paint that were installed over a twenty year period. The produce was applied as directed. Removal was tried one, two, four, and twenty-four hours after application. In all instances it partially removed most of the paint, but not all of the paint. The end result was a spotty 90% removal. Full removal was obtained after sanding with 320 grit wet sand paper. Not having tried other products, I have no plane of reference on its adequacy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best paint strippers I have EVER used! I'm in the process of restoring a 50+ year old wooden runabout boat. I ordered this on the recommendation of several websites. This stuff is great! Since it is thick, it will stay on vertical surfaces. No stripper is perfect, but this one is darn good. I'm taking off about 5 coats of paint and it isn't raising the grain at all. No odor and the stuff is not tearing up my shin as so many of them do. Highly recommend and will order more as I need it! Great find! June 12, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works great, keep it away from anything plastic This stripper works well, I used it to clean Sikkens Cetol off boat teak... but keep it well away from plastic, plexiglass or anything of the like. It works better if it's warm and sunny since it works faster. After a few hours I used a plastic scrubby to clean the stripper and old finish off and hosed it with water as I went along. After the teak dried I followed up with sanding and then refinished... teak looks great. July 9, 2013
