Working with a well with heavy rust and odor Is this system going to help?

Asked by: Mlstandley
Yes! I've been using this system for about 2 years with my very hard water and it has produced clear odorless and tasteless water. If you'd like more info related to this system feel free to check out my blog on Under Sink Filters: http://cleanwater.today

do you have to use the system's faucet

Asked by: rod
NO! Aquasana Team is wrong. I bought Danze (one over stove and one by kitchen sink for under counter instant hot water) faucets, to match my main kitchen faucet. Did this with a complete renovation completed eight months ago. I've done my first filter change at six months and they were visually working. Also left a glass of filtered water on end table while gone several days. There was no settlement, unlike what happens with unfiltered tap water.

Where is PID?

"New performance indicating device (PID) alerts you when it's time to change your filter." Where is this "PID" located and/or should I hear or look for something? I put two in (one for cooking over the stove and to the ice maker). The other is at the sink with an instant hot water heater in line. My refrigerator has notified me it is time to change the filter in the refrigerator. All (including the refrigerator) are new and put in six months ago with a total kitchen renovation. It seems a bit strange that the refrigerator tells me a new filter is required, while my 3-stage "hasn't said" anything. A review will follow, pending your answer. Thank you.

First time out we had the same problem. Our plumber had installed the filter just fine, but did not take the masking tab off the PID lithium battery (located in the top of the filter unit housing) Of course it never beeped...So we went for 18 months without switching the filter cartridges, and were actually pleased with the delay. Not sure this "6 months" thing has anything to do with actual need for a new set of filter cartridges, and would recommend you "stretch" that according to your own household. (We're 2 persons/ 2 dogs). There was no change in water taste or output pressure over that extended period.

I bought it for the quality and finish of the faucet on top and was not disappointed. The faucet is a real faucet, not one of those with a plastic handle and the brushed nickel matches the main faucet on the sink. I also like that the spout can swivel. This was a replacement of a single stage filter, with a tee to a hot water dispenser. I had to get one new part because of that, but otherwise this would have had everything I needed.

I had previously owned the Whirlpool reverse osmosis filter system and the water tasted great. Had to change it because of it getting cracked. That was the only negative to it. Water tasted great. Because of the high reviews and my friend purchasing it lately and recommending it I decided to buy it. This is the 2nd week and the water taste is still bad. Friend recommended I should open the water and let it run for 10 minutes which changed his water taste but mine is still the same. After brewing tea in a stainless steal pot I have to deep clean it. It has fillings at the bottom. Looks like fine minerals/sand. Had my previous system over 5 years never had this issue. I have to add small amount of sweet lemon to the water so my kids could drink because of the bad taste. I started buying bottled water for my kids. I am very disappointed and I am thinking of getting the whirlpool one again and returning this back to Home Depot 2 stars is for the unit. Its very small and does not take to much room under the sink. Nice design and size.

I am surprised at how fast the water flows from the faucet. I am happy it does not require a water tank like RO systems. I don't have room under my sink for a tank and have a finished basement under the kitchen. It also does not require power, so no outlet is necessary under the sink. I only gave it 4 stars because of my lack of experience with it, and poor mounting hardware for the faucet. It was very easy to install. It took about 1 hour to complete the install. It replaced a Zuvo filter system because replacement filters are no longer available. I had replaced my main kitchen faucet with a model that has an integrated sprayer on the faucet so I could use the sprayer mounting for a drinking water faucet. I have granite, so this was the easiest option. This faucet comes with a recessed plug to center it in an opening from a sprayer. The opening is large. The plug is however made of plastic, so it creeps after it has been tightened. The washer under the faucet is also quite thin, and also flexes over the large opening from a sprayer. After a few days the faucet needs to be re-tightened. I will need to replace the plastic insert with one that is metal, and maybe add a different washer under the faucet.

We've been very satisfied with this product, which takes Chicago's already tasty tap water and converts it to something very competitive with any mineral spring. However, the little beep either did not work (despite the light being on when installed) or was too soft. I noticed the tiny light was off this week and have installed new filters after 15 months of service in a 2 person/ 2 dog home. I'd suggest you just make yourself a calendar or phone note to remind you when to swap out the cartridges, and order new ones at the same time.

If you are looking for a filter that is small and cheap, then this is the one to consider. I bought it because I don't have a lot of space under the kitchen sink. Installation instruction is clear and easy to follow. It is cheaper than most other brands. Quality is probably not as good as other brands with more than 3 stage. But it is good enough for me. The way I look at it, any filter is better than no filter.

My husband, who is very handy, had it installed in a few hours. We had a slot for it in our sink, so it looks seamless. The faucet itself with the brushed nickel is very fancy looking. We have very chlorinated water, and could immediately taste the difference.

We had an old water filter that was tasting funky, changing just the filters was no longer making the water taste any better. So after doing some research, the 14 stage water filter I really wanted cost $1600 . . . ya, I'm broke, so that wasn't happening. After going back and forth, I found the reasonably priced Aquasana. It was rated highly across other websites as well as here, so I decided on this 3-stage. (our old one was a 2-stage). For installation, since we already had a water filter in place, when I removed the old one completely, installing the new one was quite easy. With everything changed - faucet, hoses, and filter - the water tastes so much better! I've been worried about all the water we were buying in the plastic jugs as most are not good for us or the environment. I'm grateful this filter was not too expensive and does the job. My only issue with the new filter is that it's water pressure is a little lower, but makes sense since it's going through more filters.

In term of quality, I don't know because I don't have any other ones to compare it with. But any filter is better than no filter so I am happy with it. It took me over an hour to drill a hole in the granite and install the faucet and the filter.
