We were told there was no caulking on this unit. Just set in place and water runs off. Is this correct?

Answer:
When installing the wall section on top of the base, it is essential to run a nice bead of 100% silicone caulk on that ledge before placing the wall section on top. This help keep things water tight.
The second caulking woudl be done to finish the front seam. We recommend you do so on this particular unit.

Answer:
Instructions call for two caulkings. The first, is not seen and is between the bottom and top during assembly/installation. The second is not essential for water tightness but is cosmetic after assembly, in the groove now between the lower and upper halves. I prefer the look of an uncaulked groove.

Answer:
Hello, Bars can be added to this unit, however I would visit the Home Depot special order desk in plumbing to order the unit with reinforcement on the walls you wish to install the bars.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Aquatic Shower I bought this shower last year for my cabin up north. The unit is very nice looking and well built. I strongly suggest putting down some quickcrete under any fiberglass shower pan to help it support the weight of humans. After time fiberglass will weaken from constant flexing. A little fast drying cement is a simple and easy solution. This shower is relatively easy to install. The upper section is narrower than the bottom so it will need a few more shims. Overall I think this is a great shower. I gave it 4 stars just because support on the back side of the pan (that rests on the floor) was really crooked thus making the shower sit off level. I simply had to mark it with a straight edge and cut it. April 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Neutral The shower seems to be of decent quality. The instructions advise to pour plaster of paris under the base before installation. I found this to be a messy and complicated project in my situation. I had to barricade off the walls and drain so that no plaster would run out. Plus, with my PVC drain, I had to mix plaster, disperse it, then cement the drain and set the base. That was my project but yours could be easier. This is a less expensive alternative to tiling a shower. We will see how it holds up over the years. August 23, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Unit for Remodeling Project We recently remodeled our bathroom and replaced a worn out tub with this 36" unit. The two piece unit was just what we needed since we couldn't get a solid unit through our interior doors. It was a breeze to install and has ample room for a comfortable shower. February 14, 2010
