Can this Aquatic system be installed over existing tile?
Asked by: Bama
i installed this tub in my bathroom over sheetrock, i think you can do it over tile as long as you screw it to the studs behind the tile.

Is caulking necessary?

installed the tub and surround without caulking the seams, now im wondering if i should have caulked it. I really like the look but i need to know if this will be a moisture/mold issue in the future.
Asked by: Jorge
The instructions say it does not need caulking but we did anyway. Better safe than sorry.

We fixed it with a repair kit also bought at HD. Install of the unit was a breeze, highly recommend going to YouTube for the Acquatic installation video. We put the tub in with mortar and it is rock solid. The unit itself feels sturdier than a lot of other tubs I have used. The shelving is great! Only had it for a week so far so no comments on long term durability or cleaning it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE... I live in a 52-year-old house and my tub was really bad. I wanted something fresh and new and clean, so I purchased this item. After spending over $600 on the tub itself, I then paid a plumber over $800 to install it. The plumber was wearing rubber shoes and put his feet on the ledge, I now have permanent marks on the ledge from the rubber... I attempted everything to get the marks off. But it gets worse... shampoo dripped down the wall, staining the wall permanently. This item looks cheap, never looks clean, and was the worst investment I could have ever made. Now I'm stuck with it. I have written Home Depot on two occasions now, and have yet to hear back. No cleaning product I've tried works...

This was an inexpensive tub and surround but it is worth more than its price. Went in easy and looks great. No "creaking" or sway with tub or surround. Solid little unit. Very happy to have purchased this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice quality This is a nice tub and shower stall kit...I would of gave it higher marks on ease of installation,,,but it took a bit of demo to get it in, this was for a remodel job. The 60" length is so tight in a small bathroom, drywall and furring strips had to be removed on both side length of the bathroom to get it in place, I also had vanity and toilet out because of doing a complete remodel, I don't think it would go in if you don't remove these in a small bathroom. They should have a remodel type that is about 2 inches shorter to save you the time of having to do extra drywall work just to get it in, then you could just shim the back edge to the wall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for a remodel Had a professional installer & he seemed like it was easy to install though he was not familiar with this brand. Some of the white surface of the tub looked a bit mottled or swirled, but was acceptable to me. (Not sure I would even have noticed if the builder had not pointed it out.) We especially like the height of the tub side. Some had sides too high for us old folks to step into and the high side of the tub would have made it difficult to bath grand children.

Installed with ease, no caulking and looks and works fantastic! I like the raised lip on the outer edge of the tub which prevents water from flowing over to the floor during a shower.
