Customer Questions & Answers

What model door goes with this unit?

Subsequent to my previous question, I figured out they all do accommodate doors. Or am I wrong? This model looks like what I'm trying to replace (except my current one has a hinged door).

Recently installed this shower stall. After installing stall found that home depot does not carry a door for it. 32x32 door will not work. Home depot checked with the shower stall manufactory and found that the door (L002) for it is special order and very pricey. Plus there is a 4 week delivery period. Found an adjustable Sterling shower door at Lowes that worked well. The door will adjust to different size openings. Just take your time and follow instructions. There is also an instructional video on the Sterling web site. The door is about $200 less than the L002.

Does this unit need to be fastened up against sheet rock or can it be fastened directly to the wood studs?

Asked by: Doityourselfer
This was a replacement for an old 32" free-standing unit. So we built an alcove using one outside wall and building in the remaining two to make and alcove. Thus studs were available and we pre-drilled the Aquatic flanges at the stud locations and used 1"+ gal roofing nails to secure it to the studs. The unit has ribs in the panels so it does not contact the alcove walls except at the rib surface and the flanges. We decided not to try to glue the ribs to the walls as the flanges seemed to provide all necessary support. We did use foam panels between the studs to reduce heat loss and sound transmission.

Is the pan attached, or is the unit in 2 pieces? (I need to know if the unit will fit through a narrow door.)

I need to know if the unit will fit through a narrow door; if the pan is separate, I believe so. If a one-piece, then probably not.

base separate from the walls which are two separate side panels and a back panel....4 pieces total. No access problems for us.

Which Door Measurement will FIT?

There are 2 conflicting shower door measurements for this unit. Some say a 32" Door while other say a 28" door. WHICH ONE IS IT? 32" or 28" ? The 32" will Not cover the bottom when mounted on the outside. The 28" will need to be mounted inside the stall but does go over the bottom.

A2 32 in. x 32 in. x 76 in. Shower Stall in White is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 29.

Followed the instructions closely as this was a replacement for a 50 year old free standing stall and thus an alcove needed to be built in using a small amount of space from an adjacent room but had to work with tight dimensions.. Good instructions, good quality material, easy for wannabees to install, nice interlocking assembly. Insulated the alcove walls with foam and the shower is quiet. Particularly liked the advice to use plaster of paris under the base as it provides for very firm support for heavy people. Employed a shower light in the stall's bonnet and it makes for a light, airy experience even in a small stall. Heard some had color degradation....we'll see over time. This stall is lightly used in a vacation home.

To be honest I can not rate this product yet, however I can say I am not happy with the purchase process so far. The reason I can not yet it is because when we finally got the set home, the base was damaged and had to be taken back. We are now waiting on a replacement. Here is how my experience has been with this purchase!!! I got an email from Home Depot stating it was ready for pickup, after driving a half hour to the store I had to stand around for one hour and fifteen minutes while a clerk attempted to locate the packages. After waiting I was told I would have to come back the next day because they could not be locate the packages. The next day I received a call stating they had in fact located everything and it was ready for pickup. Drove back to the store, waited only twenty minutes this time, got the packages and went home. Two days later, we had to drive back to the store and return the base!!! SO, ask me some time next week to rate the product and hopefully I have it and everything is all good!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some design deficiencies The biggest problem is that Aquatic does not provide a trim kit for the edges where the shower stall panels meet another material such as drywall. I will improvise something, but that will waste half a day designing, shopping, and installing. I recently bought a tub surround from a competitor and it included a well-designed edge trim kit to make a nice looking job. Also, the surrounding studs must be perfect in dimensions and squareness. The Aquatic panels are not tolerant of any deviation unless you are willing to live with unsightly gaps. I spent a lot of time shimming and chiseling off high points. Will have to see how this product stands up over time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value I've installed 100's of acrylic units and a bunch of Sterling units. The Aquatic is comparable to the Sterling in durability. The cost is cheaper. The composite material is tougher to cut or drill than acrylic. Keep in mind that each side comes out about 2". So a 32" wide rough-in will leave you with about 28" wide. Compared to tile which would be around 30-30.5". Overall a good product for the price. My only complaint is that the drain is not perfectly centered (15" from back, 17" from front, 16" from both sides).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good choice for small bathrooms If you have to replace a small shower, and 32 inches is small, this is one good way to go. I had a 32 inch stall and a 28 inch door to a very small master bath. There is no way to put in a one piece unit without removing a wall. This unit is in four pieces and fits together without caulk. You can caulk if you want but so far I haven't seen a need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just right but... Stall is just what advertised. Like the design, still appreciate it after 6 months of 2 showers a day. No quality issues but since it's a small space, do wish the sides were more ridged - kind of a loud noise when we bump into the walls. Guessing it comes from contact with the 2x4 studs behind them. Note that in this small space the shelves for shampoo, soap and conditioner are easy to bump into, knocking the items onto the floor. But that's a problem of size, incurred due to small space the shower has to fit into. Like I said, I'd buy it again, it's a good thing for where and how it has to fit.
