Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be installed against backboard, or only naked studs?

Can these tub walls be installed against a backer-board/drywall or do they have to go directly onto studs?
Asked by: amj
As long as you use the correct fasteners(backer screws) you can mount the surround to backer board.

Can this system be used with an existing tub?

Asked by: Mthomas
Unfortunately, it is not designed to fit other units. Although dimensionally, it may fit other units, there are TABS on the bottom of the backwall and sidewalls. As well, there is a radius at the front to fit over the BURM that is present on the tub. It is meant to be coordinate with our existing pieces. The tub is a 6030CT Left or Right and the sidewalls are 2462CSW. For a look at the full unit you may look up 6030CTSL-AW or 6030CTSR-AW on Home Depots' website. Thanks

does this shower come with the floor

Asked by: sara
Two part kit, the base is a tub. Left hand or right hand drain. Nice tub, not a shallow one.

Can it be cut to go around a window on back wall?

Asked by: bronco837
Hello, While you can cut into the unit for a window, we unfortunately do not offer a kit do do so. Most people will just tile instead. I do not have instructions for using our wall systems with pre-existing windows. If you do choose to cut into the wall it will just void the warranty in that area of the unit though. Thank you

A2 8 in. x 60 in. x 62 in. 1-piece Direct-to-Stud Shower Wall in White is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 9.

Back and side walls have quarter inch manufacturer difference. Either the top or bottom will not be flush no matter what you do. Contractor was here so we had to install. So, overall factor in three trips to home depot and a finished product that you will have to "live" with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Soap permanently stains We purchased all 4 pieces of this tub/shower combo. It was very easy to install but after using it for ONE week there is a permanent soap stain on one of the shelves from a bar of soap. This wasn't any special soap, just a bar of Dove. I have never seen anything, no matter the material, stain as easy as this tub set. Look for another option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disaster This is more of a public service announcement than a vent. Some days after my carpenter installed the tub, I noticed the white finish was "cloudy" for lack of a better word. It's probably the result of a too-thing coating that lets a dark substrate show through. Home Depot sent out a rep who took pictures and acknowledged the flaw. It was already glued in place and would require removing in tiny pieces. The corporate decision was to repair, not replace. A specialist came to see what he could do. He said it could only be painted, not reglazed. Said it would chip. So now I'm living with a gray-white tub. But the worst thing of all is the back-wall. I should've known better. The shelves jut out taking up way too much space so that your elbows bang into them. This is probably a problem with most kit type surrounds. The manufacturer DID send a check for a complete refund. I waited 13 years to get the new tub. In time, I'll have this one torn out and get something else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Serious Manufacturing Issues It pains me to give this scathing review; however, the quality control on this item is seriously lacking. We tried three different Home Depot store locations to get one good unit, and we were not successful. Either this piece was cracked, scratched or stained, or the separate purchase side walls were cracked, scratched or stained. The stains are embedded in the material and cannot be removed. It was a VERY frustrating, time-consuming and expensive experience that should not have occurred. My contractor spent about five hours between the three stores trying to find a unit that was in good condition for installation as part of my bath remodel. Responsibility lies on the manufacturer for the exceptionally poor quality control and poor packaging that does nothing to prevent shipping damage, and Home Depot is responsible for not checking the units upon receipt, and for stocking damaged merchandise. IF a person were able to get three good pieces, I think this would be a great unit and I would give it a score of 5 stars for quality and value. The design of the shelving and the less glossy finish were very appealing to me, and the softer white color was an almost perfect match for my existing bathtub. If in good condition, the value would be great, as it is a very sturdy unit. It appeared to be about average for installation, but we never got that far. Unfortunately, we gave up trying to get a good unit and I had to go with another unit from Home Depot's competitor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy!! I purchased this about a year ago, a little less actually. I noticed right away that it leaves permanent rings and stains where bottles of shampoo and soap sits. I have been continuously trying to find ways to get rid of stains. Nothing works!! Also if you are not careful to make sure the shampoo and soaps are not running down the wall and quickly clean it up, it will leave steaks!! I wish I read the reviews first!! I am so so sad!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to install and looks OK but flimsy and rattles I bought this along with the matching tub and side walls for a bathroom renovation. The walls are thick enough so that they should last a long time but they are somewhat flimsy with hardly any reinforcements added to the backs. This makes it easy to press on the walls and have them flex. I had to add wood around that faucet nozzle and handle so that the walls can't be compressed there and cause a leak. Also, where the back and side walls meet are channels to hold them together but the fit is very loose. When I flex the walls they tap together and sound like a cheap product. Although this is advertised as 100% caulkless, I am going to add a bead of silicone in the joint channels to firm up the fit and prevent the tapping noise. Functionally, the shower is pretty good with lots of shelves and it will be easy to clean. It's good for an easy and expensive DIY job but the flimsiness of it makes it seem cheap. If I had to do it again I would install tile or a surround that has the side walls and back wall as one piece.
