Questions & Answers

How would I apply these to a metal post or metal mailbox?

How would I apply these to a metal post or metal mailbox?
Asked by: ElaineinRoswell
I purchased these thinking I would be able to find a double stick adhesive as recommended by the manufacturer, but since the numbers are essentially hollow, the adhesive or tape would have to be applied very carefully to the very outer edge of the underside of the numbers with no overlap showing - about 1/8" around the entire edge. I am very disappointed in the answer I received because I can't figure out how to get them on my metal mailbox without drilling. UPS drivers are fed up with looking for my house number.

Can these be installed on aliminum siding? If so, what would the instractions be?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.

Aluminum is not included in mounting surface types.

Why does a #0 cost 61% more than a #7? There are 10 numbers, and 9 different prices. Is there a discount for the greater number of points on a number? Or, does it just cost extra for more smooth curves, because, curves refract sunlight in more directions? Or, is #7 just a luckier number? Or, is #0 statistically the most used number, thereby, the obvious choice to exact a premium surcharge unto? I anxiously await the undoubtedly creative explanation for this folly. The 61% difference in price one might pay, and, subsequently, how good one feels about purchasing these items, appears to depend solely on the luck of one's house number? Having both a #0 and a #7 in my street address, I feel really lucky for needing a low cost #7. Yet, I also feel terribly unfortunate, because, I also require a 61% more expensive #0, with no logical explanation in the part description for the premium surcharge on many of the numbers.
Asked by: TC
Hello! All pricing for our products are determined by the retailer, not the manufacturer, so we are unable to give any insights into what determines the different price points for each house number. You may reach out directly to The Home Depot for an answer. Thanks for your interest in our house numbers!

Do these come with an adhesive backing?

I am actually looking for 4" white stickers to put up as an outside address on a glass surface
Asked by: Stacey
No, they do not include adhesive backing and they are constructed of brass. Please contact the manufacturer for further details - 800-464-7491.

4 in. Satin Nickel Floating House Number 0 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from They look great on our mailbox post. My only disappointment... They look great on our mailbox post. My only disappointment is that they are not very readable as the satin nickel reflects the color of the post so the two sort of blend together. I had thought these would be more readable than the other options, but I may have been wrong on that. But they look classy, just not easily read by emergency services, should they ever be needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality overall, but a couple of observations. I purchased these numbers for my mailbox. They arrived well packaged and the quality is good overall. The finish is a brushed or satin nickel over brass with the backside somewhat hollowed out with two threaded mounting points in the casting. A couple of observations are the castings are not as quite as precise as I had hoped for, and the threaded posts/standoffs for installation don't thread in to the back of the number more than a couple of threads. Time will tell whether they will hold up long term. I searched extensively online and found these numbers best suited my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick way to gain curb appeal! Extremely attractive and easy to install. 4 inch size makes numbers easy to read from the street. I love the modern font, nickel finish and floating effect- it really updated our 70's era ranch house. There are no exposed screws in the front for a clean look. We mounted the numbers to a decorative wood panel purchased at a craft store, then painted to match our shutter and front door color. Incredible value, looks expensive, very satisfying for a small project!
