Can this be placed over a 4"x4" post already set? Rather not set concrete. Can this be used with a 4"x4" set with a no dig spiral or spike?

Hello JRB,
Thank you for reaching out! The length of the decorative cover that comes with the Basic In-Ground Post with Decorative cover is 21.6 inches. This post is meant to be installed in the ground. This means that some of the 56 inches you are referring to will be hidden underground during installation. The depth at which you install the post in the ground is going to depend on the mailbox that will be installed on top. The height that post-mount mailboxes can be installed at is determined by the United States Postal Service, hence why the mailbox choice matters in this situation. We suggest reaching out to your local postmaster to acquire the guidelines for your area before purchasing a new mailbox and/or post. You can find your local postmaster by visiting this page on the USPS website: https://about.usps.com/who-we-are/postmasterfinder/welcome.htm. Thank you and feel free to contact us at 310-374-5700 or at support@architecturalmailboxes.com if you have any other questions or concerns. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! Easy install, very stylish with the decorative cover. All the screw holes matched well with the architectural mailbox I ordered from Home Depot. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Inexpensive, easy to assemble & install Needed to replace a mail box and didn't want to spend the $500+ that my subdivision was going charge me. This worked out just fine and it looks good. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice heavy look Cover helped to hide securing screws wanted this mount so I could make theft proof or at least hard to steal October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and looks impressive. Bought this to support our new heavy duty Coronado mailbox. All hardware was included and instructions were easy to follow: 1. dig hole 2. set pole 3. pour quick mix concrete 4. level pole as concrete sets 5. mount top plate and mailbox 6. attach decorative post covers August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Would by this again if we had another house Easy to install, looks nice. We used a double sided mailbox. September 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Flimsy mounting plate Bought for use with the Oasis Jr mail box. Mounting plate so flimsy the mail box bounces up and down like its attached to springs. Have to install your own angle braces for support. Home Depot offered me $14.00 for my trouble. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice well made mailbox post. Post was easy to assemble and very robust and was also packed very nicely with decent instructions. Just set it in concrete yesterday. Also referenced the USPS guidelines for mailbox location but is exactly the same as what this company suggested. January 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality Product! We added this mailbox as soon as we purchased our home because we wanted a more secured lock-box. We did our research and found this great mailbox that didn't have an insert which we are not a fan of. We've had this installed 4 months now. Very easy to install with detailed instructions. The front door is nice and wide, easy to open, closes on its own and stays shut with a magnet system. The entire box and post feel strong. We concreted the main post and its incredibly stable and sturdy. The added decorative cover gives it a nice touch. Rain stays out due to nice rubber seal on the rear access door which is nice and big so you can easily grab your mail. Overall we love this product and it was a nice addition to our home. It adds a stylish look to your home. September 24, 2013
