Outgoing parcels

What is the largest size of outgoing parcel that can fit in here? We mail a lot of packages and most won't fit in our regular mailbox. Having a larger box for outgoing mail will save us trips to the post office.

Is there a version that has a lockable door on the back side of it?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Roger
Hello Roger, Thank you for reaching out! The elephantrunk Parcel Drop Box has two points of entry. The first one is the delivery [hopper] door that is located toward the top of the drop box. This is where the delivery person will deposit the packages. The second point of entry is the locking door on the same side, but underneath the delivery door. This is the door that opens and closes like a normal door, where you can retrieve your delivered parcels. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at 310-374-5700 or at support@architecturalmailboxes.com. Thank you!

How do I ship this to my home without it being stolen off the porch?

Asked by: Noporchpirates
Hi there, if you're concerned about delivery to your home, you can choose the Buy Online, Ship to Store option. Simply, localize Homedepot.com by using your zip code (My Store Location: Change) and choose the store where you want to pick up the item (Make this my Store). Hope this helps! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

Is the Elephantruck Parcel Drop Box weatherproof?

Is the Elephantruck Parcel Drop Box weatherproof?
Asked by: cowman
Hello, Thank you for reaching out! The elephantrunk Parcel Drop was designed to be weather resistant. It is equipped with a curved roof to redirect rain off of the parcel drop and the sides are slanted in a way that prevents rain water from rolling into the two doors. In addition to the design, all of the joints on the elephantrunk are sealed. The only area that water may get in during a heavy storm would be the door areas. However, these features should prevent most water from entering the elephantrunk. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns at 310-374-5700 or at support@architecturalmailboxes.com. Thank you!

Elephantrunk Parcel Drop Box in Black is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 29.

This was a gift for a relative that lives in an urban area where theft of items delivered to porches is common. This fit right in with the home's exterior decor. It is used by all the parcel delivery services and even the USPS. The porch pirates look elsewhere. Something like like would seem to be a must for urban dwellers who order a lot.

Items placed in top drop to bottom after door is closed. Bottom door has slide rods that secure the door both top and bottom. Easy to install, but securely attached to the ground.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but needs to be a little larger. I purchased this box due to some "Porch Pirates" stealing a package from my front door step. The box is built well enough, but it's a little bit small for most packages delivered from Amazon. Also I have a paver front entry way and had to bolt the box to my house wall for security since the bottom bolt that's supposed to attach to concrete would have been useless. Also trying to get UPS, FedEx and USPS to use it has been difficult, I put up the little sticker it came with it, but no one seems to read it. If it was only a little bit wider, this would be a totally 5 star buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3 Month Update The Elephantrunk is holding up well. I placed the drop box in an area where it is exposed to the elements for the past three months and it is holding up well. The packages inside are dry and the box looks like new. The company responded to my last post and offered to reimburse me for the lock. They sent me a Starbucks gift card for my trouble. Their concern for customer satisfaction warranted a follow-up review. As reviewed before, I recommend this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and nice looking It has a solid build - definitely built with quality; does not feel flimsy at all. We have ours bolted down to the cement by the front door (it comes with the bolting screw/plate). Convenient for package deliveries when we aren't home or can't come to the door. Had to train some couriers to USE IT first couple months, but this was expected. Great for packages that fit the slot. It does as advertised - just wish there was one a little wider so can fit boxes that are a little larger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smaller than expected It is a bit smaller than expected. Metal is thin. This unit is not weatherproof & water will enter thru lower locking door. There is an adequate size foam pad on the bottom of the unit for a soft landing of your package. There are 4 adjustable feet for a little extra height (2" approx). All of the needed mounting hardware is included for proper ground securing. The key comes in the lock causing the key to get bent during shipping as my key did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice box for an addition to a residential porch I purchased the Elephantrunk to receive packages at a drop location. In comparison to commercial boxes this will not substitute for security. The box arrived packaged well in a plastic bag, in a cardboard box, in a cardboard box, in a cardboard box. Yes there were three cardboard boxes. Still arrived with a slight scrape but not worth sending back. The weight of the box at about 40 lbs requires you to bolt it to a deck or concrete. I did not want to punch a hole in the concrete so I modified the inside with heavy steel plates on the three sides and filled the base with concrete adding about 80 lbs more to the bottom. The lock would not work and was cheaply made. I had to go to The Home Depot and purchase a new lock and replace/modify it. Lastly the manufactures website stated that the powder-coat was added prior to assembly, that is incorrect as I removed the base to find bare metal at the joints there (it's still galvanized at least). Al in all I, would say that this box provides an option to receive small packages when nobody is home.
