I had worked at a private University in South Dakota for 14 years and the 36 Inch power brush worked in heavy snow up to 4 inches deep and in light snow up to 10 inches deep and powered through both with little resistance. I am now in Southern Colorado working at a museum with brick sidewalks and purchased the 28 inch power brush knowing that it will do the job more efficiently than a snow blower or a shovel. Parts are easily accessible to order and the machine is durable for work all year long. Know the limitations and you will never need another piece of equipment. For future suggestions, if possible, It would be great to get at least another 10 degrees of angle. Ariens you have a promoter with all of your products, mainly because I have purchased almost all of them in the past.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by AlaskaUser Could be great
I live in Alaska and I purchased this primarily for clearing sidewalks/walkways.
If you have the unit from the very beginning of the snow-year and you don't allow any snow to be built-up at all, there is absolutely nothing better. The unit is built well, it looks good and it runs good.
When using on packed snow, tires sink into softer snow creating an un-level surface. It also makes it a bit tough to push. The snow thrower swivels just a little bit to each side so on a driveway, you may end up throwing the snow multiple times to get it from the center to the edge.
Overall, I like the unit and would recommend it. I only gave it 3-stars because it was not very useful to me getting it a month after the snow season started. I didn't know it would be like it was on packed snow. Get it before the snow falls and you'll love this thing.
I've not used it for de-thatching a lawn but I'm guessing that it would work quite well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Phil The Ariens Power Brush is better than a snow blower for...
The Ariens Power Brush is a better than a snow blower for those light snow falls. I have a corner lot with a large drive way. I have a 30 year old Ariens snow blower that just won't quit, but it is really not worth getting out for those light snow falls of less than 2 inches, but I am getting too old to shovel the long walk around the corner. So I bought an Ariens Power Brush. It does an excellent job, getting down to the cement. It articulates to allow the snow to be thrown to the side. The only problem is that it does not throw the snow up on to the high banks. The snow is thrown into the big banks and then falls down onto the sidewalk and eventually the cleared part of the walk gets narrower and narrower. But the snow blower usually fixes that. No regrets in buying the machine and I would recommend it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Riley This product does everything it advertises it can do in...
I have owned my snow brush for 4 years and sweep my driveway and my sidewalk, as well as my neighbours on both sides, in less time than it takes to warm up my vehicle, when it is -25 below. This machine is very durable and reliable. I have used it 72 times for a total of 28 hours, which doesn't sound like a lot, however it works in the worst weather and conditions you can imagine. I am 66 years old and have no problem clearing 10" of snow and ice. I purchased this machine, since I have a heart condition and cannot shovel snow, under doctors orders. This machine has a power starter on it, however I use the manual pull method and it starts with just one pull. Great machine and I am the envy of my neighbours, who are out there with their shovels, slaving away, when I have walk ways that are completely clean. So clean you can see the cracks in the sidewalk, it does a super job.

I bought this product to sweep my driveway from small snowfalls in minnesota. We got about 1/2 inch light fluffy snow last night and I used this product to sweep about 4 passes down my driveway and the brush quit spinning. Piece of junk also the engine surges like it was not adjusted properly. Do not buy!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Does great when it is not broken down
During the first use the belt tension spring broke. During the second use the brush drive shaft key slipped and ground the drive shaft down before the Shear pin on the other side of the coupler broke. I ended up having to replace the gear box for the brush drive. The unit does a great job when it runs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Larry Don't forget about the brushes.
I got the oppurtunity to use one of these this past winter on a driveway. It had thick slush and some ice on it. The brush powered away the slush and ice and left a completely clean surface. I never knew how nice these things worked.
