Very poor quality. Wife mowed the yard twice and something went wrong with the transaxle and the warranty claim was denied. Ariens failed to stand behind their product and i'm out over $800 bucks.

Unit broke twice in 10 months. (Enigine not drivetrain issues) Is not a reliable unit. I expected more out of a Briggs and Stratton. Two warranty claims and no unit for months dealing with the claims. Engine siezed first time,(some sort of internal spring broke $395 claim) then a crank but no start mid run after shutting off to take a break. I got rid of it after that. This mower was junk. Brand new and so many issues?? Take the 1200 and buy something higher end and avoid the hassle.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarvC Way better than the John Deere D110 I considered
Most difficult task was uncrating he mower after getting it out and into the garage I leveled the deck went over the mower from front to back double checking everything for tightness.
Checked the oil level added fresh gas it's started right up.
Mower has performed like a champ I have almost an acre to mow and have a dump trailer.
I have been hauling tree cut tree limbs and clearing our rear yard area absolutely no issues with the unit.
Awesome machine for the price!!!

Had no luck with this riding mower. Bought at Home Depot. The first one delivered would not even start at all. The second they brought out gave us two lawn cuts then likewise refused to start again. Followed advice on possible problems but had no success whatsoever in starting again. This time sent the mower #2 back to HD and had them deliver a John Deere (more expensive machine but no problems at all).
Recognition to Home Depot at Streetsboro for excellent responsive service in terms of replacing the first mower then picking up the second and then transferring payments easily between mowers and providing 3 deliveries for the cost of only one. Thank you.

The seat alone sold me. I have had major back surgery and it is the most comfortable mower in the store. The steering is very easy and smooth. I have the Briggs and Stratton engine but I have never had a problem with Briggs. You take care of them and they will take care of you. Oil is cheap, change it often! And dont let it set out in the weather. Mower height adjustment is kinda in the way getting on and off the mower, and the gas tank is kinda hard to get to, but I can deal with it. Great mower for the price. I actually paid $1149.00 for mine

Repalced a 24 yr old Craftsman with this Ariens tractor.
Only 4 yrs old and engine is blown
I have many pieces of power equipment that are over 20 yrs old.
I take care of my power tools.
Why did this fail after only 4 yrs. Poor quality.
Totally worthless. Will never buy Ariens equipment again
Ironically; I sell this equipment but never again.

The only real downside is the automatic transmission. You have no way to rest your right leg if your foot's on the gas pedal. The way the machine is configured you must hold your right foot in the air the entire time the mower is being used in the forward mode. There is no way to rest the heel of the foot on anything while the foot is in the gas pedal thus necessitating keeping the right foot/leg held up in the air the entire time the mower is in use.
