Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Luvtoshoot08 Good bang for the buck,
Purchased this brand new in crate(Highly recommend as floor models are subject to kids playground when they are brought into store) be prepared to have a trailer or large truck bed as uncrating this off of a fork lift was a job in itself. However once loaded up it was great. Actually light enough two adults can lift unit out of a F150. However went to install seat on tractor and noticed one of the plastic clips was broken. Called Home Depot and they swapped a good seat for mine (old seat went onto a floor model go figure) So far had this for almost 7 months and it's been great. No complaints about how the product performs. I am a 330lbs dude and use this unit on 5 plus acres a week and it hasn't failed me yet. Drinks fuel though.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fisherman Great Riding Mower
After 20 years of using a walking power mower (not self-propelled) on our five acres, purchased an Ariens riding mower. The time savings has been priceless. What used to take many hours over 2- 3 days, I can now mow in just a few hours. On the riding mower, it was delivered with a missing cotter pin and washer which held the mowing unit but Ariens customer service was very helpful and sent it right away. The mower is easy to use and handles real well. The Briggs & Stratton engine is a high quality engine. The Ariens riding mower has been well worth the money and I would highly recommend it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by teeohhem Great machine!
The mower works great! It does struggle a bit on really steep hills and it really does feel like you're going to fall off the mower moving across hills. I'd say if you have really steep hills, you need more HP and probably a heavier unit.
That being said, my wife now LOVES cutting the grass. Thank you Home Depot for allowing me two more beers and 15 minutes extra per week. The mower does a fine job of cutting, goes at a really good speed, and is easy to maneuver. The mower's transmission is a bit jumpy so when you're just starting in either forward/reverse, be prepared to touch the pedal JUST hard enough to lock in the transmission but not too hard or you'll go flying. It takes some time to get used to.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Oldtimer Good mower for the price.
I bought this mower because my old (81 model) John Deere 317 finally gave up the ghost. This happened in the late summer and nobody had any mowers in stock. I finally decided on the Ariens because of the price and availability. I originally ordered a smaller, 40 inch model, but, after waiting several weeks for delivery, I was told that the mower was damaged in shipment and no more were available. In desperation I ordered the 42 inch mower. It arrived promptly and has been working fine. I have used the mower four or five times now and am pleased with its performance. Time will tell if it deserves a higher or lower rating but, so far, I have been more than satisfied.
The Home Depot Customer Service staff has been very helpful throughout this process and deserve to be complemented on their performance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by paintman high quailty made mower
The riding mower was set up and ready to use. the instructions were clear and easy to read.
I had no problem unloading it from my truck by my self and it performed perfectly cutting my 1/2 acre lot
in no time. What I like a lot about the machine is its smooth ride and how easy it is to clean with the garden hose attachment for cleaning the cutting area and blades. The mower also has a good tight turning ratio which makes it easy to cut around & in between shrubs & trees.I would recommend this mower to my friends.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by driedjello I have thouroughly abused this machine
I have a lake with treelines around it. I have been abusing this mower for some time. I welded a push bar from the front because I kept smashing the exhaust on tree stumps that beavers left behind. I replace the blades with very heavy duty ones. I have burned up many belts, smashed both blade spindles and done other forms of damage to this mower from the abuse. All in all, I am very satisfied with this mower. It has held up well in spite of the ridiculous things I have made it do. There are readily available after market parts and it's easy to repair and maintain. I am very happy with this purchase, it has survived horrid torture.

This tractor is great the 19 horse Briggs sounds like a beast and starts effortlessly the deck has 4 non scalping wheels which is cool on a tractor for a tractor for this price also has a very comfortable seat. It made the best cut on my lawn I've seen in years and best of all the tractor and the engine are made in the USA

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nana Having so much fun MOWING!
I've been mowing my 1 acre for over a year by hand. By the time I got it done, it was time to start again. Decided it was time to make my life easier. I'm a 57 year old woman. 5'4". It fits me well and is fun to drive. If necessary I can push it out of the shed where I store it, so it's easy to move around, even when not running.
My acre is slightly sloped and VERY rocky. I use the highest setting for cutting the grass and weeds. It works very well. I've never hit a rock and the cut is smooth and even. It's a very natural look, too. Because I have lots of trees, it's really convenient to be able to mow in reverse - that's my favorite feature.
The initial directions and the pictures around the key are a bit confusing. I definitely had to consult the Owners Manual - more than once - I guess that's about average. Otherwise, it is a great investment. It's only a couple weeks old but I plan to use it for a long long time.
