Customer Questions & Answers

When will it be in STOCK??

I have been waiting for this particular model since middle of Nov. I called and I was told that stock is expected to be available in the first week of Dec. I have called a few times since then and was told the same story. I patiently waited until the first week of December (today) and called again...only to find out that stock availability is delayed by another TWO weeks. I live in MN and can't wait any longer. I have a bunch of HD gift cards to burn and would like to spend my money at HD than some local Ariens dealer. Can someone from HD / Ariens give an authoritative answer on when it is TRUELY expected to be in stock? HD sales associate online tried to sell me a 20% off on a 3 stage Cub Cadet instead....but I trust and believe in Ariens. However, snow is not going to wait either....The 24" is the only model that will work for my garage so 28" model is not an option. When WILL Ariens have it in stock for HD?

I just received my third E-mail telling me to buy this product at Home Depot. What a tease... They should stop sending people E-mails advertising that they can deliver the product before the weather gets warm. Almost like false advertising.

When is HD going to get the Auto Turn models for this deluxe 24?

Currently, this model states that it is still pin lock steering. I am ready to buy, but don't want to buy the one with pin lock.
Asked by: GA28
Use & care manual also states pin lock and needs to be updated.

What's the horse power?

Asked by: Casper
A rough rule of thumb for figuring HP from cc's is; 33cc=1 HP. This machine has 254cc. So, divide 254cc by 33cc and you get ABOUT 7.5. 7.5 HP more or less.

Electric start: battery or plug in

To use the electric start, does the machine have to be plugged into an electric outlet or does it have a chargeable battery pack?
Asked by: DdeV
You plug it into an ordinary (orange) grounded extension cord, press the start button on the machine and it starts right up.

Deluxe 24 in. 2-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower with Auto-Turn Steering is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 515.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Machine! I have used many a snow blower in my days but used this for the first time in upstate NY in 10" of wet heave snow. Had to use the slowest speed but it had no issues on a 100 foot long driveway. It throws snow about 40 feet out so no worries about snow banks. Hand warmers worked fantastic. Now on the con side- headlight is marginal and it has a small gas tank. Had to refill once. It did get clogged once but that is not unusual with a wet heavy. Auto turn makes it very easy to handle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Auto Turn Steering only works on flat driveways The Deluxe 28 SHO has nice power and gets through just about anything, but the auto steering is horrible. My driveway has some small bumps and grooves and the auto steering makes the machine try to turn when I don't want it to. It's almost uncontrollable. I talked to Shepherds in Townsend, MA where I bought it and they said it's a problem they've been hearing about. They're interim solution was to have me raise the blade. Now I have to scrape my driveway with a shovel after snowblowing if I want to get it down to pavement! They put me on a list with other customers so that they could talk to their Ariens Rep. Never heard from anyone. Ariens has to come up with a fix to lock the wheels and turn off the auto steer. Nice idea, very bad design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not sure I would go for this brand again. It has typically been difficult to start, even when plugged in. Usually takes about 15 minutes or more to get started no matter the choking, or the pressing of the squirter. Seems like the fuel lines are inferior in this brand, as the fuel seems to have problems reaching the engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No April Fool's Joke After getting buried two winters ago, I purchased my Deluxe 24 in the fall of 2015. Only used it a few times last winter, but this winter it has proven its' worth. My experience with a blizzard in mid-March showed me it can handle deep drifts of dry snow, but the April Fools Day storm really presented a challenge. A solid foot of very wet, heavy snow typical of spring storms. I have snow removal responsibilities at work so I didn't get home until the end of the storm. The end of the driveway was a solid 3' of wet sludge. The Ariens fired up first pull as always and although it got a workout, it tackled the driveway and the banking without clogging. I will agree with some reviews that mention the slowest forward speed being too fast and the fastest reverse speed being too slow. Strongly disagree that it can't handle wet snow. Very pleased that I went with the heated grips, these make the task much more bearable when it is frigid. Bottom line for me with a snowthrower is: does it start easily and will it tackle tough conditions. The answer for the Deluxe 24 is a resounding YES!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this machine again. I Give the 24" Deluxe 4.5 stars for the following reason. I had the blower in Nov 2016, used it twice and after the second time it was leaking red fluid from the gear box. I got it repaired being under 5 yr warranty. (faulty seals). Had a wintry mix ice, snow and sleet... ran great no issues. Just had a major storm up here in the Northeast (Maine) got over 20 inches 02/17...ran like a champ ran thru everything anad threw it quite a distance...made my day that's for sure....quite pleased....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Deluxe 24 comparison with my 10 year old Classic 24 I had my 10 year old Ariens Classic 24's gearbox stripped out and brought it in to replace the gearbox which would be about 3 weeks before I would get it back. Because we were getting a lot of snow I decided to buy the Deluxe 24 so I wouldn't get behind. I was able immediately to tell the differences between the two. The 3 benefits to the Deluxe was it was quieter, and threw the snow a little farther and you could adjust the throw from the panel. The disadvantages are my arms were way more tired because of the weight shifted to the front which made it feel much more heavy. I don't like the auto steer at all which made it more difficult to keep going straight when it would catch on something. I only need positraction when I'm clearing piles of snow that slid off the metal roof. I wish the Deluxe would allow to disengage the positraction for the 90% of the time I didn't need it. My Classic had the newer heavier duty gear box installed and after 2.5 hours or so my arms were not nearly as tired as with the Deluxe. Also I had to refill the gas tank in order to finish the job where the Classic had gas left over after I was finished. The main negative on my Classic is the Tecumseh is pretty loud. Lastly, I would have liked if the newer Deluxe's throwing angle was more than 180 degrees like my Classic to throw the snow a little behind me when I needed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and relentless as a snow blower! I've had this 24" Deluxe for 6 years and it runs like it's brand new. My driveway is dirt, about 100' long and I live in the country so I have to clear around the mailbox on the road as well. I also run a path to the bird feeder and areas for the dog to run. Yeah, sometimes I have to wrestle with it over uneven surfaces (I'm 70 years old) but I'm very pleased with the service this Ariens has provided. When I buy a new one I'll definitely get the heated handles.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deluxe 30 Auto Drive I"ve had a Craftsman 1029 snow blower for 25 years , no problems excepts auger belts ,bought a new Ariens Deluxe 30 and couldn't wait to use it for the first time today. I have a crusher dust driveway that is fairly even and I got to say unless there is a way to adjust the auto turn, it's useless. Pros ,starts 1-2 pull, throws snow far Cons, auto turn, heavy, gas guzzler I'm not going to rate the durability until it makes it to at least 10 years
