Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ariens Deluxe need bigger engine Bought this Ariens 30/291cc December 12/13 to replace my Craftsman 30/11. Great machine although the auto steels does fights you off the pavement. When compared side by side with my Craftsman the AX291cc engine bogged down and could have been stalled out while my old Techumseh 11hp Craftsman would bog down and work - but NEVER powered out. Overall good machine but wish I could have moved up to the 30" Platinum with the bigger 420cc engine. Ariens should not have put this small engine in a 30" blower. The big 14" impellers does however shoot an impressive plume of snow 40 ' !!!. December 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by life saver ordered online and pickup that night of one of the worst snow/blowing snow days in recent memories. took it home and assembled the handle and adjusted drive cables. put fuel in and it would turn over but not start. traced the problem to the on/off switch was hooked up wrong. did the repair and it is an awesome machine for the size. I live on a acreage and had 3 feet of snow on my 300 foot driveway. filled up both of my 25ltr gas cans since I did not know how much fuel I would need , but used only 6 ltrs in the 4 hours it took me to blow all the snow I needed to blow . I do highly recommend purchasing chains for the added traction it adds and make your life a lot easier. love the machine. it starts very easy even in the coldest of weather January 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a machine! Had this machine for a couple of months and am impressed with the power this unit has, especially with the heavy and frequent snow we have had this year. No matter how much snow, the engine just digs in and gives it the power and torque to move the snow. It ejects without jamming and the snow just flies the distance with no trouble. It especially hacks through frozen windrows without a loss of power. It would be very useful to apply some wax to the chute and am glad its metal so it would take the punishment. The customer service is excellent. When I brought it home, I noticed a cracked light lens and the Customer Service department replaced it quickly, no muss or fuss. Have also never used the electric start. One pull of the pull start is all I needed to get it going even at minus 30c. No sweat. Just a small comment about the traction. The wheels spin a little up slopes, so, am looking for a set of chains to help there, but overall can't complain. An excellent machine at a reasonable price. February 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top Quality Machine I have owned a few snowblowers in my time and have not been very happy with most of them. This machine is built extremely well and is very very solid. The body has very little flex in it and has tight welds which keeps the bolts from loosening due to flexing. The auger is very rugged and will chew through almost anything including the wooden handle of my snow shovel which was buried in the snow one day. (not to impressed about that) :) I have gone through hard packed snow and ice pieces at the end of my driveway and this machine just roars through them. The chute has a full rotation and turns very easily. Also the deflector is well angled and has many positions that allow for tossing the snow for great distances. The only problem I had was that water did cause the cables to freeze up. This was easily solved by filling the cables with Fluid Film. I never had any problems with freezing after. The controls for the auger, chute, chute angle all work extremely well and are once again very durable. I have used this machine in very heavy wet snow and light fluffy snow. It will throw the light stuff but does extremely well in heavy wet slushy snow. It seems that the more soaked with water the snow is the more this machine loves it. I have never had a clog yet and hope that my luck continues. The grips are a nice size and the handwarmers work very well. I used to always have cold hands no matter what type of gloves I was wearing. Now even when my gloves get wet my hands stay nice and warm. Overall I highly recommend this machine because it is a well built, extremely well performing machine that certainly seems like it will last for a very long time. September 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the Job! My first new snow blower after putting up with break downs and repair of used machines. The 30" Ariens really throws the snow! Easy prime and start with controls now on the engine vs. cables etc. up the handle bar. The forward speed control is a little awkward moving right to left (R-1,2 F1-6) and would prefer the forward gear control found on the Platinum series Ariens. Tires dig in as well as my chained tires on my older Ariens. The 2.5 turn chute control offers great quick control of aiming where you want the snow to go, far or near. Only time will tell if the extra cost of the Ariens is worth it vs. the much cheaper 30" snow blowers out there. I'm banking on it that it was worth it. December 23, 2014
