Over the years I have owned many snow blowers and every time that we received wet snow it would plug the chute and impeller I would have to stop the blower clean out the chute and impeller this would happen many times . On the 28 Dec 20cm of snow & on 30 Dec we received 40 cm of snow in my home town of Springhill Nova Scotia both were wet and between each storm it dropped to -21c. I was looking forward to see if all of the reviews were on. Well the Ariens performed beyond my wildest dreams it cut through the wet snow like a hot knife through butter. Never plugged once and threw the snow 35-40 ft with no problem it went through 3-4ft packed drifts nothing would stop it. If I had any complaints it would be to mount the head light in a way that when the chute is turned to the right it blocks the light and you can't see where you are going I would tell any one looking to buy a new blower to get a Ariens

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Scott Very good machine, but could use a few changes.
Bought this machine in 2014 and have only had to use a few times. I am sure those in Boston would have more input on how well it performs. I like the Deluxe model overall, runs great and does a nice job of throwing the snow. A couple of observations; The low idle needs to be throttled down. I assume it can be adjusted but this was how it was delivered. When engaging the wheel drive lever the front of the machine wants to hop up a few inches, unless you engage the drive very slowly. Which is not something most operators do. I would suggest a change to the wheel engagement mechanism. I still don't like the directional shoot crank location.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Josh Best snow blower I have had
I have had this Snow Blower for just this year but it has done amazing in different amounts of snow. The last one we had barely could get the snow to the sides of the driveway and this one throws it past it even from the middle of the driveway which is awesome.
When I head down to the end of the driveway where the plow trucks build it up, I just put it on slow and it goes right through it all and even in the last storm we had it was up the the edge of the top of the blower and was still trekking through without any issues.
I am impressed and if this last season after season I will be getting a Ariens again when I need to get a new one.

I've been looking for a new snowblower and considered the Ariens Deluxe 28 due to the glowing reviews. I used a new unit this afternoon to clear walkways and was very disappointed. It nearly stalled out in 18" and the gears don't work properly. it only operated in high gear even when reverse was selected. My present snowblower is a 27" with a Tecumseh engine. It easily moves through snow more than 24" deep fresh or old. It never bogs down like the Ariens did. I'm so glad to have used this Deluxe 28. I now know where to go for a new snowblower.
I've been using snowblowers for more than 40 years and have had Ariens in the past. No Ariens in my future!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Auto turn is an issue.
I thought replacing my 27 year old ariens would be a good choice. Unfortunately it is not. Ariens has a good name what could be the problem?
The 28" Deluxe is a dud. There are issues with the Auto Steer. If you hit the slightest bump, the machine goes madly off in all directions
and is unsteerable and it nearly hit a friend of mine.
Spoke to the Ariens and dealer they say its a set up issue. Watched the you tube video and I tried to fix it myself. Awaiting non skid shoes. Took it back to the dealer and said I wanted a refund! Why would you ship something that has issues?
Stay away from this autoturn until they resolve it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Joe First Snowblower and First Season
We live on Long Island New York, this winter has provided us with some decent opportunities to move some snow. This is my first snowblower so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been very happy with the performance of this machine. On the paved portion of the drive it take the snow off and in the sun the drive is clear by the next day. On the gravel it doesn throw a little gravel even though I have adjusted it to the highest level. We have had all types of snow this year, light and fluffy to slush. This is a back saver in the slush.
The only change I would probably like to see is some type of shield to block the light from your eyes. Other than that this thing is perfect.

This unit has done all that I asked of it. I do my double wide driveway, the back deck, pathway for the dogs around our 1/2 acre lot and also my neighbour's double wide driveway. The only complaint I have is that I store it in a heated garage which may have contributed to the following: if the snow is deep and fluffy, the throttle mechanism has frozen a couple of times causing the throttle rev high and when the auger clutch is engaged there is limited power. This has only happened a few times. Other than that the machine has plenty of power to work through any type of snow.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gary This machine is a power horse!
I purchased this from an independent dealer who is well know in my area. I was impressed with the all metal construction and ease of use. The handle to rotate shoot is genius. The ax291 engine is a must as is the cast iron heads. It has plowed through snow as tall as the blower and doesn't bog down at all. With all the snow this year I am a popular guy in my circle. I am very happy with my purchase and the 5 year warranty is great assurance, but I don't think I'll need it. Do not worry about price or shop around. I did a ton of research and this is the one. I almost missed out this model sells out.
